Upgrade from 1.4.7 to 1.5.2

Hi Nicolas,

I'm going through the process of upgrading my dev environment from 1.4.7 to 1.5.2 and have received the errors as seen in the screenshot. I'm also using Joomla version 1.5.22 and have Business version of Hikashop.

We were recently forced to re-brand our website and therefore our domain name has changed. Our licence has been validated for the new domain.

Is there something I need to change to allow the upgrade to progress without errors?

Thanks in advance.

Jacqueline

Hi,

Joomla can't install the HikaShop update because some directories are not writable.
First, use the Menu "Site / System Information" of Joomla in order to see the list in "Directory Permissions".
If some directories (template / tmp / modules / plugins...) are not writable, HikaShop couldn't install properly.

Regards,
Jerome

You need to use your FTP client in order to correct the permissions of these folders if possible.
Also, we have some documentation about install problems on that page:
www.hikashop.com/en/support/documentatio...-install.html#errors
There are a lot of solutions there for access rights problems.

Thanks and apologies for the late reply.

I have checked all the permissions on the following directories: templates, tmp, modules & plugins. I have write permissions on all of these as per screenshot.

However, I'm still experiencing the same issue.

You should change them to 777.
On some hostings, the user of the website is different from the user of the FTP access. Because of that, you can have different users owning different files on your website. And if you use 755, one user won't be able to change another user's files.
That's why you still have the problem.
You should either put everything to 777, or make sure that all your files and folders have the same owner which is used by your website:
when the joomla ftp layer is activated, it should be the FTP user who should own all the files and folders
when the joomla ftp layer is deactivated, it should be the apache user who should own all the files and folders
Then, you should be able to use 755 for your permissions and still be able to install/update extensions.

Thanks Nicolas,

I have checked all permissions on the directories mentioned previously, they are now all set to 777. I re-ran the install and received the attached errors.

That can happen sometimes. Could you try to install via FTP like explained on that page: www.hikashop.com/en/support/documentatio...-install.html#errors
and make sure that you have the hikashop.xml file in the package that you downloaded from our website.

I recently had this problem when we moved our sites from one VPS to another with a different company. I tried all the usual setting permissions etc. and it turned out it was the owner that had to be changed. Once I had done that everything started working again. Could be worth a look.

Jeff.

Thanks for your help. It seemed to be a corrupt installation file in the end as luck would have it.
