I want to display a grid of categories only on my homepage that allow the user to click through into the shop & be presented with a list of products for that category.

What's the easiest way of achieving this?

Thanks.

Actually, I plan to use Modules Anywhere from nonumber.nl to display each category in a table cell, so I guess the real question is - how do I create a module that displays only one category?

The easiest is to create a menu of the type hikashop category listing and make it default. There is a small tutorial on how to create such menu there: www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/6...html#categories_menu
In the hikashop options of the menu, you will be able to configure how to display the categories on your grid (number of columns, number of elements, type of layout, etc)

On the other end, having a mdoule displaying only one category is not straight forward as that means that you need to have one category above each category so that you can select that category as parent category of the category you want to display in the hikashop options of your module...

Thanks for your reply.

I already have a menu into the shop as you describe, what I want to do is display a selection of categories (a sub-set of the shop) on the home-page - along with text, images etc.

If you want to display categories spread across several categories then you would indeed have to display them manually. But why not do it more easily:
just create a joomla article with your categories listed there and a link to them on your listing of categories menu that you already have and voilà ?

The hikashop content module hasn't been designed to display one category information at a time so that won't be easy to do, as I said in my previous post.

My shop has 22 categories. I want to display, on the home page, 4 categories (I'll change these manually, based on sales) that I want to push more than the other catagories.
There is other non-shop related content on the home page.
I may be being really stupid here, but I can't see how your suggestion helps.

Well, once you have your article which display your four categories information and link to them, you can just display it on your front page with a joomla article display module.
