Is it possible to add an RSS feed to the category pages, so that people will be able to subscribe for new stock updates?

I am also looking at SEO now. I see that you say you will be making some changes. Will it be possible to have shorter url"s

Many thanks

Sure, there is already a RSS feed support in HikaShop. You can just activate it in the Display tab of the configuration.

We already added new SEF options in the configuration to shorten SEFed URLs in 1.5.3. There are no plans to reduce URLs further as it's not possible after that (there is nothing left to shorten).

It says it is the latest stable version and is not giving me the option to update.

i have had a look at the display page and it seems I have my RSS set up, but tere is no RSS icon showing on the pages?

The update is not yet downloadable via the update menu of HikaShop as we are waiting for feedbacks before rolling it out. If you want to update, you can download it directly on our website. It is available on the download page for the Starter edition and on your order details page for commercial editions

There is indeed no icon showing on the page as that's something different. RSS feeds can be subscribed via your browser menu. For example, on FireFox, you need to go in FireFox->Bookmarks->Subscribe to this page and you can see the feed created by HikaShop.
If you want an icon to link to that URL, you can use a module like that:
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/content...g/rss-syndicate/6878
Or just add the icon with the link to the feed page in your template or via a custom HTML module.
