Hey,

right off the bat, thanks for everything. Great plug-in.

I have a downloadable item, a 3D model, that I want to put associate with a coupon for 100% off!
The customer goes through the checkout, adds the coupon code, then presses next, they get the "thanks for your purchase" screen. Then they receive the email that says "pleased to confirm the creation of your order No. ###" Problem is, there is no link back to the download page for the files.

I'm using Hikashop Essential
thanks

Hi,

In the email, they should have a link to the order details page. On that page, ONCE THE ORDER IS CONFIRMED, they will get links to download the files attached to the products in the order. Normally, the order is confirmed automatically by the payment plugin.

That's part of the problem, the email doesn't contain a link to the order.
I attached the first and last customer emails for you to see.
Maybe I'm missing a switch somewhere in the config

I have an older version of hikashop on my local server that actually works.
What could be wrong?

They are both version 1.5.3, but this local one is the Starter version...

It's probably because you set the registration option of the configuration to "no registration". However, for security reasons, only logged in users can access their orders and theirs downloads. But since your users don't register, they can't login, so there is no link given to them in the email and they can't see their order on your website.
You would have to change the registration option to "simplified registration" for example in order to get the link.

There it is! Genius! You saved my sanity. My shop is now up and running. Thank you nicolas for all your support. I hope this thread can help the next guy.

Now just a few cosmetic things, like instead of having my website address written out at the top, how can I add the actual link.

You need to edit the corresponding translation string to adapt it to what you want. You can do that by following the explanations on: www.hikashop.com/download/languages.html#modify

It's not working, but am I close?
Can the variable %s be put in a link tag?

You can put it in a link, yes.
You're close indeed.
One of the problems is that you forgot the double quote at the end of the URL in the href attribute of the translation.
The second problem is that you can't use double quotes inside translations. You need to use simple quotes instead. So instead of:
KEY="<a href="My link">My text</a>"
You should have:
KEY="<a href='My link'>My text</a>"
