Case sensitivity of product image names

Hi, Nicolas,

Please could you explain how HikaShop handles case sensitivity when it comes to uploading images from a Windows 7 environment.

My site is running on a Linux server, so to try to avoid case issues in file image names, I have made all the file names in Upper case in my Windows 7 home environment.

But I just uploaded an update to an image. I deleted the original image for the product and then uploaded the new file with an uppercase name. But looking in the uploads directory I see that the uploaded filename is a lowercase name.

However, when I upload the same image to the uploads folder using filezilla, it puts a second image in uploads, this time the filename is uppercase.

This is not an issue when I upload one image at a time, but I am about to change ALL product images from PNG to jpg and I am going to run into problems if I upload what I thought were all uppercase filenames and some appear on the server with lowercase names.

Thanks

Jim

Hi,

All the file names are changed to lowercase before saving them in HikaShop. That way there is no case problem on the server whether you're on windows or linux. That's why you don't have the uppercase file when you check the upload folder via FTP.

Aaah, I did not know that!!

I need to change my naming procedure and use all lower case because I do most of my changes to the product line in bulk, using csv imports and uploading image files via FTP.

Thanks, Nicolas
