Add user to certain user group during registration

Hi!

For statistical reasons we would like to group our users in e.g. 3 groups. Is it possible to add a parameter to the registration URL and therefore the user will be added to a certain user group during the registration or a custom field in the profile will be set?

Thanks in advance

Best regards

Hi,

That's not possible. The default user group can be changed in the user configuration of joomla but you can have different user groups based on parameters in the URL. Not unless you modify the registration view to add an hiddne input field for that parameter and create a user plugin to change the user group of new users based on that hidden field value.

And if we use a hidden custom field of HikaShop instead of user groups? The same problem?

I don't see what you can do with custom fields which would help...The group to set in the user is retrieved from the joomla option. The only solution is to make a user plugin like explained above.

Hikashop Starter 2.6.2
Hikamarket 1.6.7
Joomla 3.5.1
PHP 5.4.38

Similar problem here, I'm using Hikamarket and I have vendors and regular clients. Let's consider each vendor has its own joomla user. There are Hikashop-powered registration pages for Vendor and regular clients, is there a way to assign vendors to a group and clients to another? One of the groups can be the regular 'Registered' group.

That's not really the same problem.
In your case, I would recommend to look at this plugin:
extensions.4u2.co.il/hikasop-user-group-ftw
It allows you to assign a customer to a user group based on the value of a custom field.

Hi,

Well, I don't know of another solution. You can potentially develop a plugin to add that yourself. But it would be cheaper to use what's already there unless you're a developer yourself and have the time.
