Animated gifs?

I'm wondering why product images uploaded won't display as animated gif's? If I add an image via the product description, it animated fine. I always thought that the file type (i.e. animated gif) was handled by the browser, but images added to the product via the Images section on the right won;t animate once uploaded. They display as the first frame of the gif file and static. Is there a configuration setting I've missed?

The images that you upload via the Images area are resized as thumbnails and that's the thumbnail which is used in the listings and on the product page.
It is not possible to generate an animated thumbnail from images. That's why you see it static.

If you click on the image on the product page and provided that you didn't set a size for images in the Files tab of your configuration, you should see your animated gif.
