Setting up Shipping

Hi,

I am just setting up my new website and am planning on moving from a semi-automated solution that was not flexible enough. However it seems there are some disadvantages. Each of my products has a different weight. My customers could choose from 8 possible different shipping methods (1st class, 2nd class, EU, Rest of World) and in each those options (signed for and standard).

As the cost varies with every 100 gram increase do I need to create approx 1600 separate manual shipping options????

Surely I have missed something here?

Thanks

James

Hi,

Well, if your shipping company has a table of prices with 1600 combinations of prices, that's indeed what you will have to do.

If you use UPS, USPS or Australia Post, there is a shipping plugin available for them which will retrieve the rates automatically from their servers.

If you don't want to enter all these shipping methods and if your shipping company has a web service available for such plugins, you could develop one. We have a documentation on creating shipping plugins for developers: www.hikashop.com/en/support/documentatio...r-documentation.html
