Adding extras to products

Hi,

We have 20 products (furniture such as sofas etc) - each of which is made with 2 characteristics: Fabrics (100 variables) and Legs (6 variables).

So one product has 600 child products (100 fabrics x 6 legs).

We'd also like to offer the the extra service of adding buttons to the furniture. This adds a fixed cost of +£200 to he product.

To do this I have created a characteristic called "Buttons" in which there are 2 variables: "Yes" or "No".

However, doing this doubles the amount of child products to 1200 for each product. Which is overkill because we don't need anything different for each child product other than adding £200 to the price.

Is there a way to add a fixed amount the product just by using a checkbox for example?

Any advice welcome!

Thanks,

Phil

Yes, instead of using a characteristic, you should use an option:
www.hikashop.com/en/support/documentatio...ct-form.html#options

We have an example of product which uses options on our demo website:

Hi Nicolas,

I actually tried using options as a solution by creating a whole new product called "buttons" with a price of £200. I then added this product to the furniture as an option.

However, at the checkout stage the user can click the "buttons" product and is taken to the product page for the buttons (which isn't really a product by itself). Can this be disabled only for certain products? Or is tere a way I can stop people adding this product to their cart by itself?

I've just noticed that on your demo site the options don't come up as their own product in the checkout. How is this possible to setup?

That's because you need to turn on the option "group options with products" in the Checkout tab of the configuration.
