Specific Subcategory Menus

I'm running into a slight issue. I have a shopping cart set up with 18 categories. I have a menu on the main site with submenus pointing to each one of the 18 categories.

However, when I click on the menu item to go to the category page, all I get is a page with the words Product Category, listed repeatedly down the page. Listed 229 times to be precise.

A couple things I noticed...

1. When I go into the HikaShop Options under from the Main Menu submenu, it never saves the Associated Category nor the Associated Modules.
2. It always says:

You just saved a category listing menu without setting an associated module for it.
If you want to display a product listing below the category listing, you need to add an associated product listing module.
You can do so automatically by clicking here
Whenever I go into the HikaShop Options for any of the 18 Submenu items.
3. When I go into Content Modules, it creates a new module for the same category listing menu every time I assign a menu item a module. So "Associated products listing for category listing menu 853" might be displayed 5 times if I've tried 5 times to get it to save.

I've reinstalled HikaShop twice now and have the same problem. Any point in the right direction would be nice.

Hi,

If you only want to display products for your menu, you should create a products listing menu. Unlike, categories listing menus, there won't be a associated module for the display of the products so you won't have that association problem.

For the categories listing menus, normally, the associated products listing module should be created automatically once you created the menu in joomla. You should not have to attach it manually.
If you follow the tutorial on that page it should work:

Nicolas,

The thing I'm running into is I have a category created for each of 18 different regions of my area. Within those categories are a variety of products. In my main menu, I have a menu item for each of the 18 regions.

If I set the type of content to "Product Listing" and then have the Associated Category point to Region 1, nothing shows up. Even though I have 12 products associated to Region 1

If I set the type of content to "Category" and then have the Associated Category point To Region 1, all that happens when someone clicks on it is the words Product Categories listed down the page 200+ times.

When the type of content is set to Category, it never saves the associated module. Instead it creates a new one every time (again, so one module may be listed 32 times in the Display->Module listings.

Hi,

It's strange that you don't see the products when you set a menu to product content with the corresponding associated category.

Could you do a screenshot and give a link to that page so that we can see the problem ?

You know what, it's working today. I re-installed it a third time, this time I even removed the tables in the database. And it's working. Thank you for the pointers. This is why I never hesitate to recommend HikaShop to anyone looking for a shopping cart. Thanks again.

Now that I've got it up and running - I have another question.

When someone clicks on the menu link, it takes them to all the products listed in that product category - great! But, it just displays the product image and not the name of the product. The attachment shows the setup for the one product category and then what I'm seeing on the front end. Where/How do I set it to show the product title?

In the "type of item layout" option, you selected "image" so it just displays the image. If you set it to "image and title" you will see the name of the products too.
