Hi there,

So, I have a site where the only products so far are GIFT CERTIFICATES...

I have created products for:

Gift Certificate - $25,
Gift Certificate - $50,
Gift Certificate - $75,
Gift Certificate - $100,
etc...

but how do I create a product for a product where the price can be entered by the customer?

Like say the customer wants to buy a friend a $40 gift certificate, with my tiers/product pricing that's not possible [not even a combination of more than 1 product makes that possible]...

Additionally:
Since I didn't notice Gift Certificates being a specific feature but then again i'm sure not every feature is listed
in the View Features page ;), besides the ability to have the customer enter his own amount, there wouldn't be much more needed to fully support Gift Certificates, just the ability to auto-generate a Gift Certificate number [which could be sotred in the database and pulled up on reports of course] based on some starting pattern that could be entered somewhere in the General Configuration - similar to how Screenshot softwares work:

base name/pattern for Screenshots: screenshotXXX and it starts producing screenshots: screenshot001.jpg, screenshot002.jpg, screenshot003.jpg as you take pictures...

Thanks...

Emmanuel.

Hi,

So indeed, for now, you can't let the user decide of the price of a product.

For your second point: I understand that basically you want to be able to easily clone a product and set in each clone a different price automatically. We are working on something currently for that where your will select a product enter something like the text below and the products will be generated accordingly :

price_value
40
50
60
80

Hi there,

FYI, I don't think you understood what I meant by my 2nd point, what I was referring to is when the customer receives the Generated GIFT CERTIFICATE on the screen [in a nice certificate looking thing] or via email, it would have the name of the business, the amount, the starting date, etc AND a Gift Certificate number which the system [Hikashop] would generate... which could then be pulled up via reports by the site owner to make sure people don't generate their own Gift Certificates.

If that feature existed as well as the ability to enter your own amounts, you would have the Gift Certificate functionality covered.

Cheers,

Emmanuel.

Hi,
Indeed I didn't understand your second point :)
Now it's clearer. Thank you for explaining again. The certificate number is kind of a serial number. Someone else requested a feature where he would be able to enter a list of serial numbers for a product and then, each time someone buys the product, a serial number is taken out of the pool of serial numbers and attached to the order. I think that the system could be compatible with what you're talking about. In the gift certificate case, instead of entering a list of serial numbers, you would let the system generate them on the fly.
Plus the ability to enter your own amount... We will add all that to the todo list.

It's still in the todo list and we didn't had the time to work on it.
There is no ETA for now.

Hello, I'm considering buying the entreprise edition within the next days for the web of a Spa-Beauty center. We like all your features, but for us is mandatory to have gift certificates that work in the way described previously in this topic. Searching in Google I found this website:

www.crysande.com/index.php?option=com_hi...&category_pathway=10

It aparently is done with hikashop and have gift certificate funtionality, but you haven't said so in your feature list, so please confirm if you support it or not.

Thanks,
Valieriy

It's possible to do it.

A gift certificate product is just a normal product.
If you want to generate a coupon automatically and send it in an email after the purchase, you can do it by using the integration with AcyMailing's auto filters so that a newsletter is sent to the user with a coupon code when the order is confirmed.
