Hello,

I need some help setting up my shop.

Could somebody please take a look at www.cooberpedyopal.com (ZenCart) and tell me which of the options (shown in "Content display on the front end" tutorial - as below) I should be working with for HikaShop, so as to show my shop with the same categories and sub-categories as I have now in my ZenCart shop.

Product page with a menu.
List of products with a menu.
List of categories with a menu.
Products with a module.
Categories with a module.

I have tried working through all the above only to end up totally confused.

thanks
David

Hi,

You have menus with categories/products inside them. So you should create several "List of categories with a menu.", one per menu item

Your website asks for a username/password in order to access it so I couldn't see it.

When you create a new hikashop categories listing menu, you can then go in the hikashop options of that menu (with the options on the right of the edition screen of the menu. There, save your hikashop options. It will display a message that you're missing a product listing module attached to your menu and propose you to create it in one click.

Nicolas,

sorry I am still confused as to how to add products to my menu.

The URL www.cpowd.com/cpo does not need a user name and p/w so please take a look and advise.

thank you

Could you double check that ?
On your website www.cpowd.com/cpo/ I see this message: "This site is down for maintenance. Please check back again soon." with a login form.
So, I'm still unable to access your website.

Please try to log out from your website front end, you should see that your website is in maintenance.
You can go in your joomla configuration and deactivate the maintenance option so that everyone can access your website.

Great, I was able to access your website now. Could you go in the menu Display->Content menus and edit one of your menu and take a screenshot so that we can see the options you set for the menu ?
Also, a screenshot of your categories in the back end would be nice as I feel that you might have a problem with the categories.

So,

On that page:
www.cpowd.com/cpo/index.php?option=com_h...ut=listing&Itemid=66
It displays all the sub categories of the Opal category (apparently you don't have any sub categories published into that category) and all the products in that Opal category (apparently you don't have any products published into that category).

Is that what you want ? Do you have categories/products under that Opal category ? Could you do some screenshots of the listing of products in your backend ?

Nicolas,

what I ideally want is to display my products as per www.cooberpadyopal.com .

As you can see at www.cpowd.com/cpo I have the categories in the main drop down menu, it's adding the products that's giving me trouble.

Is there any way I cam pm you my user name and password for the backend. You can email me This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

You don't see your products on your front end because you added your products to the category "opal" which is your root category and your menus display the products in the category "Opal".

Your category structure is this:

opal
->Opal
->Cabochons

Your menus display the categories and product of the category Opal. But if you add your products in the category "opal" they are above the "Opal" category, so they are not displayed. I changed the category of your product to Opal instead of opal and now it displays on the front end.

Nicolas,

I still do not see any product in the category Cabochons/under $200

Your category structure is this:

opal
->Opal
->Cabochons

no my category structure is:

opal
->Opal
-->Cabochons
--->under $200
--->$200 to $400
--->over $400

please show me how to add a product, say cab222 to Opal/Cabochons/under $200

thank you
David

Nicolas,

answering my own post, don't bother to reply to my request for further assistance, I have made some progress. It's no way near anything that I would like but if it's all HikaShop can offer the so be it.

Now I need to know why the menu item Opal Shop (see attachment)remains highlighted when another menu item is selected.

thanks
David

Hi,

I went to your back end and setup three menus for you.

What you were missing:
1. Each of your menus needs to have the module "cab 001" published under the associated module option of your menu's hikashop options (you can access them via the link on the right when you edit your menu).
2. Each of your menus needs to have the correct category selected in the "parent category" option of your menu's hikashop options (you can access them via the link on the right when you edit your menu).

I've done that for these menus and it's now displaying the menus items properly.
