Product Listing Page Title Display problem

Hi,

A quick question, I'm sure it has a blindingly obvious solution. When I first set up Hikashop I created the Category Listing as part of the main menu, created Product listings for the categories as sub-menu items, and then product pages as next level sub-menus.

So far so good, everything is as I want it with the display when I am on the Product listing page (I gave you my domain name before, an example url would be xxx.com/main/online-collection/10-guilde...product/listing.html if you care to take a look). This is when using the Collection menu in the left module, which is just the mainmenu with some items hidden).

But if I navigate to the Category listing page via the top main menu ('Collection'), then click on the category thumbnails to view the product listing, the url is different (eg xxx.com/main/online-collection/category/...0-guilder-coins.html ) and the name of the category does not display. I assume this is to do with default module display options and I've tried to change settings to no effect.

I don't mind the fact that the url is different but I do want the titles to display. But if I can change the configuration so that when clicking the thumbnail you are directed to the first page instead of the second would be better.

I hope my explanation is clear enough. Thanking you in advance for your assistance :)

"I assume this is to do with default module display options" - for this I probably should have said the module which I created, as initially I was seeing a blank page when navigating to the Collection category listing page via the mainmenu. I still can't work out what I've configured wrong though :(

Hi,

You should unpublish your module with the id 100 and go in the menu Display->Content menus and edit your menu with the id 58 to publish that module in the "associated modules" option.

Hmm....

I tried that... it didn't work. Is it something to do with the settings of item 100?
I appreciate the help.

Ok, well eventually I just gave the categories themselves descriptions that seem to show up in the right place. so all is good, but I doubt that's the easiest way to do it. thanks anyway :)

Well great then.

I think that you complicated a bit the setup of all that which is why it didn't work normally.
In next release, we're going to automatically create the missing options in menus and modules so that the setup on the front end should be greatly simplified.

Hi,

yeah it's true that I over-complicated things when setting up. The reason being that I want to have a sidebar menu to show the user where they are within the catalogue. The breadcrumbs module doesn't quite cut it as the user can't see other products within the category when on the product page.
So, I created a mainmenu item for the catalogue, a submenu item for each category and a further submenu for the products. But this has led to me having two different paths to each product as I also have the module (id 100) enabled. I gave you examples previously of the different paths.
Therefore when I navigate to the product page via the module it does not expand the sidebar menu. Is there a simple way of creating an expandable menu for my categories and products displayed by the module? If I can do that then I can get rid of a lot of those mainmenu items I made.

With the latest version of HikaShop, when you create new modules and menus, it automatically generates the associated modules and menus so that you are a lot less likely to mess it up when configuring them.

Now, if it's working on your end, there is no reason to redo all you already did, but it could be useful for next time :)
