Alpha user points Plugin settings

Hi,

I am using alpha user points plugin in my site.

I want its configuration to set such as when a person purchases a order of 250 AUD or more he will get 5 AUD discount from his order.

But when i set rates in payment options as 1 point=0.02 AUD it doesn't show Pay with Points options in payment method list. Can anyone help me. I am attaching my settings screenshot.

Hi,

I think you're melting different things.
The earned points are credited to an user once the order is payed. These point can be used later as a payment method to pay a part of the whole cart.
What you configured for now is the rate for payment. It means that if customers want to pay with their point, 1 point will be equal to 0.02 AUD. But they need to already have some points.
If a customer don't have any points, the AlphaUserPoints payment method won't display.

So you cannot make then earn point and spend them at the same time, it's two different things.
You should use discount to give your customers a 5AUD discount when then purchase an order of 250AUD

Hi,

Thanks for your quick reply. If a user has already earns 250 or more points through his last purchases then only he will get discount of 5 AUD. The problem is that when i set rates in payment options as 1 point=1 AUD the if user had made a total purchase of 250 AUD it says that you have 250 points= 250 AUD.

When the configuration is such as 1 point=1 AUD and user has already more than 250 poins then it displays message " Pay with Points 5.00 AUD
You can pay with points using this payment method
You have 282.00 points (or 282.00 AUD). You can pay the full order with your points (no shipping included), it will cost you 55 points. A coupon will be automatically generated (CAUTION! YOUR POINTS WILL BE REMOVED!)"


But i want 250 points = 5 AUD.


How can i set this in configuration.My settings screenshot is attached in previous post.

I'm not sure I get what you want.
But I think you should set the maximum of point usable to 250. Indeed, if a client has more than 250 points he will be able to use only 250 and thus get a 5AUD discound since 1 point = 0.02AUD.
So what's wrong with the rate 1 point=0.02AUD?
By the way, the price option is the cost of the payment method so I don't think you want to set it to 5AUD

Sorry for disturbing you again. But my problem is when i set rate 1 point=0.02AUD...It's not working. It is not showing the PAY BY POINTS Option. Also when i put 250 points in group by point option...Its also not working for us. So please help me to come out from this problem how can i configure that user gets $5 against 250 points.

It's working well with rate 1 point=$1...but not working with .02.

I get it. You just need to activate the partial payment option. This option allow you to pay only a part of the final order so it works like a discount.

You should remove the "maximum points" and the minim (value) options.

Hi Nicolas,

I hope you are doing great! You have been very helpful in the past and I hope you can help me one more time, cause I am really lost with the alpha user points system. Here is the deal (I am using Joomla 3x and the Business Hikashop Extension):

I have a category of products with the following stracture:

Category A
- Product b
-- Product b has a set of characteristics that are effecting the price (2 different prices - Let's call them A.b.a, A.b.b)
- Product c
-- Product c has a set of characteristics that are effecting the price (4 different prices - Let's call them A.c.a, A.c.b, A.c.c, A.c.d)

When a user purchases one of the above products, I need to assign points to his account (after the order confirmation), as many as the price of the product he purchased. Later, he can use these points to pay for products on other categories.
Which are the steps I need to follow in order to set up this?



Another issue I am having is with adding a user to a specific user group after purchasing. By using the stracture above, I need to have a similar user structure:
- User group A.b.a
- User group A.b.b
- User group A.c.a
... and so on, so according to his purchase he must be included to the associated user group. Is this something do-able while I am using charachteristics on products or do I have to set up different products for each case of charteristic?


I think that the answers to the above questions effect one another, cause I can see that it's possible to assign points to a user group, but I am not sure what is the best to do here or how do I set this up and I am also referring to the order of the steps I need to make. I hope you can clarify this to me.

Please do not use the "alpha user points" plugin but use the "user point" plugins instead.

I don't think that the problem you got with the "user group after purchase" is related to the issue you for with the "user points" plugin.

Hi Jerome,

I am trying to use the points plugin you suggested, but still I need your help to clarify to me what is the best solution in my case.

How the fields are working and which of them I must fill out? I am very confused! Based on my needs, do I have to configure the Rate field 1USD $= 1 Points and then point the CategoryA on the Product categories field? Is this correct and is this enough to assign one point for each dollar of the product price a user purchased? Also, I can't use the "Points earning on categories", since in this case only fixed points can be assigned to all of the category, right?

Hi,

You will see that the plugin "user points" have an option called "product categories".
This option is a filtering option in order to just use the product price of the products from the selected categories.

Hi Jerome,

I am trying to set up the user points, but I haven't managed yet to get this working. Please help me! I have already done the following:

1. I created the following structure of products:i
- Ignite Program (category)
-- Ignite Normal (product)
-- Ignite Large (product)
As soon as a user purchases on of the above products, automatically is included into the corresponding user group (ie Ignite Normal User, Ignite Large User). This is working fine.

2. I created a new user points plugin with the following settings:
a. Points Mode: HikaShop user points
b. Don't give points when using some: No
c. Give virtual points: No
d. On "Points earning on groups" section: Ignite Normal User-->610, Ignite Large User-->672 (I need to assing fixed points per user group, cause points cannot be calculated per product price)

3. Finally, I created a new user custom field for displaying the earnings / remaining points on frontend user profile and on backend as well, as follows:
a. Table: user
b. Field type: Text
c. Read only: Yes
d. Display: all are set to yes
e. Access level: all

The custom field does not display the earned/remaining points neither on profile page nor on backend, so I guess they aren't assigned?

Also, I added the user points payment plugin, but it doesn't appear on the checkout page among the other payment options.

Please, advice!

Hi,

Please provide a screenshot of your "user points" payment plugin configuration.
The plugin can work in "virtual coupon" mode ; in this mode it does not display as a payment method.
The plugin you described in the "user points" hikashop plugin, to earn points ; not to use some (pay with).

Hi Jerome,

I think it's clear what I need. I want 2 specific user groups (Ignite Large, Ignite Regular) to GAIN points while purchasing and then use these gained points for other purchases in the future as a PAYMENT.
The number of the gained/remaining points should appear on the profile page and on user's backend.

Please, find attached the following screenshots for:
- Plugin
- Payment Plugin
- Custom Field

The documentation file is not clear enough to me. I can't get this working.

Like I said:

If you want a payment method listed, please deactivate this option.

Hi Jerome,

I tried what you said but still this system is not working. Here are the facts and the current state of the website:

I have a Meal Plan called "Flex Plan" and after confirmation of a purchase of this item, the user is being added to the Flex User Group (the confirmation is manually configured from backend and the user is indeed included to the Flex User Group, so far so good).

What I want is, when the order of the "Flex Plan" is being confirmed and the user is being added to the Flex User Group, the user to immediately earn 250 points (as much as the cost of the "Flex Plan" is). It doesn't seem working. Also, these points should be visible on the profile page of the Flex User and he should be able to choose the "Pay With Points" plugin on future purchases (which currently is not showing at all).

Please, find attached all the screenshots of the configuration, but you can still use the credentials I sent you with pm, when discussing another issue I am having on the same website.

Please, I would like a clear answer that can make the above work.

What I have just noticed is that when a user is being assinged to the Flex Users Group (after the confirmation of the Flex Plan order) and the User Points custom field is being added into the profile page of the user all the values of the custom user fields are being removed!!!!
