Same exact problem here. I've been going thru your tutorials over and over... and have been trying to get this to work for hours upon hours. why is this so hard?

- in my Main Menu i have an item named "Shop"
- clicking "Shop" brings up a Category listing as hoped
- clicking on any one of the Categories from this page brings up a blank page, and yes, I have made my product modules

wth? please help us!

Do you use the latest version of HikaShop ( 1.4.4 ) ? With the latest version, we simplified the process so that you don't have to associate modules and menus anymore. You should just have to create a menu of type hikashop category listing in the joomla manager and the products should be displayed below the categories.

I strongly recommend you to update to the latest version and try again to create your menu.

hmmmm... is there any reason why your website still has 1.4.3 download and the Joomla control panel/HikaShop "Update/About" says "You have the latest stable version : 1.4.3" ?

am I not seeing 1.4.4 because I'm using the free version?

Yes. As the new version was released few days ago, we didn't want to push it to users already using hikashop until we were sure that there was no problem. So we kept the version 1.4.3 in the downloader extension we're using so that people can't update yet via the interface in HikaShop.
We just changed that as we are now confident the 1.4.4 is stable. If you download it now you will get the version number 1.4.4 in the package file name.

Hi,

Thats all very well recomending updating, but doesn't explain why theres an issue. Also if we update, does that not mean that all product characteristics must be re-entered as with previous updates?

The problem is that you should create an associated module along with your menu as explained in the documentation, in the tutorial about the creation of hikashop menus: www.hikashop.com/en/support/documentatio...splay-front-end.html
It's not a bug, it's just that you didn't configure the menu's hikashop options properly. With the new version, we improved the system so that if you don't configure the options before using it on the front end, it will automatically create the necessary modules/menus with default options. That's why I recommended you to use the latest version as it will be easier for you to create a hikashop menu without having to follow our docuentation.

"As with previous updates" ? HikaShop doesn't delete your data when you update it and never did so I'm not sure of what you're talking about ? Everyone is updating hikashop by just installing the new install package via the joomla installer over the previous version without any problems.

Hi Nicolas,

I have updated to the lastest version as you suggested, but my products still aren't showing the their categories.

The categories have been created ok as they are showing on the main hikashoppage, but when any category is clicked, the page is still blank

Hi,

As I said in my previous post, you need to create a NEW menu once you update as it won't work for existing menus. Did you do so ?

Also note that if you follow our tutorials and create an associated module for your existing menus that would also do it:

Hi Nicolas

Apologies, I didn't pick up on the fact I had to create a new menu item. I have now done this but what has happened now is I have duplicate versions of the categories on the page and still no products listed in the categories.

Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Had it all set up fine on my localhost but seem to be having issues configuring it on the live site

Please go in the menu Display->Content modules and edit the module with the id 44. There, make sure that the type of content is product and save you module options.

Brilliant, that worked! I knew it would be something simple. Only issue I have now is that the "Size" characteristics are not displaying in the products

That's probably because you added your characteristics in two times. Please delete the characteristics from your product, save it and add again both characteristics so that the system recreates all the variants automatically.

Alternatively, you can also add/edit the variants of a product manually by clicking on the "manage variants" button on the product edition screen.

Problem solved, thanks. On a separate note, how do I add social bookmarking to products? As the module I am using just now isn't diplaying on product pages?

We modified the plugin "Advanced Social Bookmarker" which enables you to display social bookmarking on articles so that it also works on products. You will find that modified version on that post:
