Seem to have "lost" my products

I am still in the "learning" phase of working with Hikashop. I am in the process of loading products in my system. I have been setting up my product listing by maintaining and updating an excel spreadsheet of product information. I have been periodically deleting the products from the product listing in the system and then just re-importing the product info from excel. No problem so far. Both front-end and back-end category listings are great and are listing out my evolving products. Then this last time I made additional updates to the product descriptions in the excel file and I decided to not delete the products in the system but just re-import the updated excel file and let it update the descriptions, etc. for the existing products. (I made sure the radio button "Update products information if the product_code already exists" was set to Yes.)

The message I got after the import said that it didn't add any new products because they were already there. So far so good, but now I don't see any products in my category listing! I can find them through search, but they are not listed in any category in the admin section and they are no longer in my front-end category listing.

Help! Somehow it looks like my category assignment on my products was broken and I can't seem to find them on any listing other than search. Any way to see a list regardless of category so I can delete them and/or update the category manually?

Thanks -
John

On the left side of the listing of products in the back end you have the category explorer. There, you should find the root category. Please click on it. Then, on the filter on the top right of the listing you can select "all sub elements". That will display all the products in any categories.
If your products really aren't in any category, then, you won't see them. The only solution will be to go in your database and flush the table hikashop_product.

Thanks Nicolas for the quick response. - I could not view the products even with the expanded filter on the product listing so I ended up deleting the records and just re-importing the excel file. It looks fine now. I still don't know why it happened. If it happens again I will export the table data before and after I re-import and see if I can see any differences.

Thanks,
John
