Activate VAT in the fields management screen

Hi

In the help screen (back end) for configuration, under "VAT check number" it says; "You can activate it in the fields management screen."
Can you tell me where to find the "fields management screen". So far I've not managed to find any reference to it.

My reason for finding it is because at present the product prices show the same figure for with and without tax.

Many thanks!

In Europe, each company has a VAT number. When a european company gives you a VAT number, you're not supposed to apply the VAT on your prices. Thus we have a check on that number to verify that it is legit. For that, you need to activate the field address_vat via the menu Display->Custom fields so that when companies enter a VAT number, it will be checked and the VAT will be applied or not.

What you're describing is that the VAT isn't applied on your products prices which is not related to that. Did you configure your tax rules via the menu System->Taxation ? If so, did you set a tax category for your products ?

Hi Nicolas

I have now configured the tax rules via the menu System->Taxes. It took me a while to understand the logic in creating the zones, categories, rates and putting them together. However it now works so thanks!

Hi, I'm back.

A week on and I notice that although the price change for 'with' or 'without tax' is calculating correctly in the back end, in the front end it displays the same price for both.
It does the same once it is added to the cart.

For example:
A product costs 25.00 Euro +20% Vat
I have a Characteristic set for a range of sizes and prices, each of the variants are calculating this OK (25.00/30.00).

On the product page I have selected "Normal Tax Rate"

Tax Rules:
Zone Italia | Category Normal Tax Rate | Italy_Goods (20%) | Customer Type All | Published

The prices should be displaying 25,00 € (30,00 € without VAT) but it is displaying 25,00 for both.
Am I missing something here?

Thanks

In your config, does the "main tax zone" option is set to italia ?
Did you set the tax category in the product options ?

I see the VAT:
Glorenza Closed Door - 10x8 Classic Print

30,00 € (25,00 € without VAT) per unit

Please try to logout/login from your front end. If you change options in hikashop and you don't refresh your session, you might have your zone cached in it...

I tried to log out and log in but there was no change. However, I then logged out again, cleared local cache of my browser, quit, and reopened.

It worked.

Thanks Nicolas! ... I was going a bit stir crazy.
Could you please do me the favour of removing the direct URL above please, as it will soon no longer be there.

Thanks again.
