I recently just switched templates and since then my categories listing doesn't work properly. It used to have an accordion effect with the subcategories, but now the sub-category is always in view. I am not sure how to fix it. Can someone point me in the right direction or even if there is another external extension I can use to create a nice category menu? Really don't want to swap templates again.

link is here

(note - site is still under construction, design not finished and please ignore test category labels)

Hi there,

First of all, what's the problem with your category listing doesn't working properly?
Second, Few accordion menus exist for Hikashop like Skyline Nested Accordion or CKmenu ( and it patch ).
About your problem, since I don't know what you are using to generate this menu I can't really help you.

thanks for the response

I didn't use anything other than the default hikashop categories module. I have a choice of DIV or List format. I've just been playing around with the css to make it look more attractive(haven't succeeded in that part yet). I've been more concerned in getting it to work like it previously did, where it only showed the main category as default, but you can click and expand that to show the sub-categories. Now though, it displays the subcategory permanently, and on the same line as the main category if main category name not long enough (as you can see in the test categories). It's all screwed up.

I want it to do the same thing as on the demo site (Category of Products)
demo.hikashop.com/index.php?lang=en

I am assuming the design of the demo one is template specific, and I can play with the css side of that, but I just want it to expand properly, something that worked for me previously without problem.

I might look into those suggestions you gave me if I cant sort it out otherwise.

If you get all the sub categories displayed instead of one as accordion usually works, it means that you changed the option "Show sub categories" in the options of the module. So you should check that option.

Maybe you have some caching on your website which prevents you from seeing the changes you make in the module ?
I would recommend to flush your cache.

Hi Nicolas..tried all that!! Even viewed it in different browers, on my laptop and phone!!

??

I think its the template stuffing it up, it seemed to work fine with the previous template.

Looking at your website's HTML javascript and CSS, there is no javascript error and the HTML of the module says that the "Show sub categories" option of the module is not set to the correct value.
Maybe that when you have the correct value, you have some javascript error ? could you check the different possibilities and the javascript error log of your browser for potential javascript errors ?

I'm going to switch templates again. I'm working on another site, used a different template and all works fine. Same settings. Only started having this problem when I used this template.

Thanks all for your responses.

Hi Nicolas,

Same sort of problem here. See: kunst.lumiga.nl
The submenu's won't show when you click on it.
But when I switch to the standard Joomla Prostar template it works fine.
But I want to use a Yootheme template.

Can you help me to fix this problem?

Thanks in Advanced.
With Kind regards,
Sailfin

Hi,

Thanks to give us a screenshot of the listing configuration.
I think that there is some properties in your template which are overriding ours, so that can cause the problem.
Or maybe missing Javascript library

Hi Xavier,

I think you are correct. But how can I fix this?
I like the templates of Yootheme.

Nicolas gave me a solution but it didn't work. I sent him a mail about it.
He said that I had to replace the line from the file: administrator/components/com_hikashop/helpers/tab.php

$this->mode = 'bootstrap';

by:
$app = JFactory::getApplication();
if(($app->isAdmin() && HIKASHOP_BACK_RESPONSIVE) || (!$app->isAdmin() && HIKASHOP_RESPONSIVE)){
$this->mode = 'bootstrap';
}else{
$this->mode = 'tabs';
}

Hope to here from you.

With kind regards,
Sailfin

Hi,

The debug mode is displayed with an accordion, so it include a javascript library.
This javascript library seems to not be included in your template, that's why the accordion doesn't work when debug is off.

So you can check in the source code of the page which library is missing when debug is off. You can use Ctrl + U to see the source of the page.

Hi Xavier,

Thanks for the tip, but this is to far from my comfortzone!
If I see a difference, then I don't know how to fix it.

See attachements if you have some time. :)

Hi,

The only things which seems to be missing is :

<script src="/media/jui/js/bootstrap.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
And:
jQuery(document).ready(function()
				{
					jQuery('.hasTooltip').tooltip({"html": true,"container": "body"});
				});
jQuery(document).ready(function()
			{
				jQuery('.hasPopover').popover({"html": true,"placement": "top","trigger": "hover focus","container": "body"});
			});
Else it's the debug css file, but it's normal that it's not present.

Thanks to try to add the missing code in your template index.php file.
