Add list of brands with links to brand pages

I'm trying to add a list of the brands in my shop to a module position in the footer of my page, which when clicked pen up a page for each brand with the brands logo, a bit of text on the brand and an overview of the products in my shop of that brand. I don't really know what the correct way of doing this is.

I've currently tried is like this:
I've made a duplicate of the HikaShop Content Module, placed it in the desired position and changed the Hikashop settings as follows:
Type of Content: Brand
Type of Layout: list
Associated category: 10 manufacturer

This does give me the desired list in the front end op my shop, but sadly the links in this list do not point to a page for each brand with the products of that brand displayed. Instead I get a 404 screen when I click one of the brand names. For example the link for the brand namer Airush points to: [SHOP ADDRESS]/index.php/en/category/16-airush, which gives a 404.
I've also enabled the display of the brand names in my product display. The link attached to the brand name displayed here does open a page when clicked. This page however is located here: [SHOP ADDRESS]/index.php/en/[PRODUCT CATEGORY NAME]/category/16-airush but does not show any of the products in this brand (which there clearly are since i just got here from a product with this brand!).

Clearly I am doing something wrong here, but I can;'t seem to figure out what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Chris

Hi,

When you click on the link of a brand in a brands listing module, the system directs you to the menu that you configured in the "menu" hikashop option of your module.
That menu should be a hikashop category listing menu.
If you get a 404 error, it means that either that menu is not a hikashop category listing menu, or that the menu is unpulished, trashed or with wrong access levels.

There is no option to enable the display of the brand name on the product page. Did you add that with some kind of customization ?

Hello Nicolas (and Foxworks),

Reading this now, and I see no responses as of late, but I am right at this moment also trying to get "List Brands" or along the lines into a menu item or a module I could put somewhere as I want to run a "special" for today.

I have went to Modules > New and see (4) Hika related, one is Module and other is Content.

Not sure how or what to do to simply gt something simple to display by Brand.

Jim

Hi,

By default in the latest version of HikaShop there is a brands listing module that you can publish via the module manager.

With previous versions, you would have to create a new hikashop content module and configure its content type to "brand" in order to display a listing of brands.

0.9.8 is what I have this in...so I need the 1.0.0?

How do I do a manual upgrade, without destroying my live work please?

Also? I am not getting emails of responses, where do I check my account to see what email address I am using?

You can check if you have the latest version via the menu Update/About us of HikaShop.
The latest version is 1.6.0 and there was never a 0.9.8 version of HikaShop published.

All the settings of HikaShop and the content you entered will be kept when you update by uploading the new version's install package via the joomla installer. I still recommend that you do a backup with akeeba backup before in case something goes wrong.

You can't change your email yourself. We can check it for you.
For that, please send a contact request here:

Hello Nicolas and I thought I would keep this post here on topic with "Brands". I was able to activate it, but they all show Vertical ??

Was wondering how I could make them horizontal please? Scrolling, would be great...<smile>

In the hikashop options of your menu/module, you can increase the "number of columns" option for that.

I don't see anything related to HikaShop at the bottom of your website.

I'm running the latest version of HikaShop business, but I can't find the 'Brands' module anywhere. Is this part of the original package?
