Digital Downloads Based on Variant?

Hello,

I have digital download products that Id like to sell based on the version selected (I am guessing this would be a variant - I am coming from X-Cart). Is there a way for someone to purchase a product based on a variant (one of five different versions) and only be able to download the version selected?

Sure, you'll just have to :
- Create your product and its variants
- Edit your product variants through the "Manage variants" button of your product page
- Add different files through the "file" tab of each variant

I have the same situation in my shop.
Customers will in the future be able to choose different filetypes to download. No different prices for different filetype.

I was able to create variants
I was able to assign variants to a product
I was not able to add a file to the different variants. After clicking the 'manage variants' button I do not see a list and I can not edit the different variants and therefore not add a file to the variant. I'd appreciate some help on this.

For this product 2 filetypes are created. As you can see no list is shown. The 2 variants that are created are 'Artlantis 3' and ' Artlantis 5'
When I want to edit this I get the message that I need to choose a variant to edit.

Hello,

I have a similar situation in my shop: one product with two variants.
The customer is supposed to pay a different price and get a different file accordingly.

How do I configure this?

This is what I tried:
1- Create a product
2- In the product form, I clicked on "Manage Variants". I then got the message: "Before configuring the variant of your product, you need to first create one or several characteristics with the menu Products->Characteristics, and then add one or several characteristics to your product"
3- Ok, that means "Characteristics" = "Variants of the file". I go to Products - > Characterics and create those two
4- Go back again to the product form and now I'm able to cick again in the "Manage Variants" button.
5- It doesn't make much sense, but now I created two variants with the same names as the Characteristics and give each a price and upload a different file.
6- Save and go back to the product page on the frontend and see the message: "THE DEFAULT VALUE OF ONE OF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THAT PRODUCT ISN'T AVAILABLE AS A VARIANT. PLEASE CHECK THE CHARACTERISTICS AND VARIANTS OF THAT PRODUCT"

And now I'm lost.

In the backend again, I clicked "Manage Variants" and get the message:
An error has occurred.
