Hi,

Is there an add-on available so users can preview different colours on a single product? You can see what I mean here:

rowwest.com/clothing/Unisuits/Unisuit-Sidestripe.html

You can select different colours for the top and bottom of the outfit and see how they look. It's done using Flash, which is obviously pretty obsolete... Is there any kind of add-on for Hikashop that would allow for this? If not, does anyone know how this could be accomplished using something other than Flash? We could perhaps hire a custom programmer, but I can't think of a web technology that would work (except for Flash).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Chris

Hi,

A simple solution is to use the characteristic system:
www.hikashop.com/support/support/documen...isplay-by-color.html
That way, you can have color selectors and have the displayed image change automatically based on the selection.
There are two issues to that solution:
- If you have that many variants (2744 possibilities on your link), that's too much data to load on the page and it will crash.
- Even if you have less possibilities, it means that you need to generate one image for each possibility and add it to the corresponding variant in the product edition page.
So that solution will be fine up to a few dozens of possibilities but not over that.

Otherwise, a flash or a javascript/HTML5 mini application that you put on the product page would indeed be necessary to handle that. It doesn't have to be flash (and I don't recommend it, js/html will be better) but in any case, such application would require a developer to work on it.
Some of our partners can potentially help you if you decide to go with that solution:

This is very achievable with JS and HTML5. We have done similar projects and are one of the approved HikaShop development partners. One example (with a different eCommerce extension) is this drum configurator, which lets the customer choose all sorts of different combinations: www.snarekings.com/kingfigurator/
In that case there are hundreds of unique images being used (HTML5 and Javascript).

We are also currently working on another product configurator that takes a different approach. It's a custom graduation stole and pageant sash designer that has multiple images that layer on top of each other to create all of the potential color combinations. It's still under development so I can't share a link publicly, but each section of the sash (main body, inner border, outer border, fringe, rhinestones) are all different image layers. That way we don't have to create and store all of the potential combinations as separate images. The layered image approach is probably the way I'd recommend going for your unisuit product.
