Checkout shipping address adds to billing address

-- HikaShop version -- : 2.3.5
-- Joomla version -- : 3.3.6
-- PHP version -- : 5.3.10

Hi!

I've run into a issue where when you try to set a shipping address (during checkout) and then submit the shipping address then the shipping address gets applied as a "billing address" and the check mark in " Use the same address as for billing " Gets checked again.

It will also try to submit the entire order, even when I haven't selected payment method or anything else.

Our "Login & Registration" is set to "Guest" only and "Ask address on registration" is set to Yes, also our checkout is "forced" to another menu.

(I would like if you could somehow hide the URL for other users as the shop is not ment to be public yet

How to recreate the problem (On our shop).
  1. Chose product (EarMaster 6 Pro will do, Click the "Chose options")
  2. On the product page, make sure to select either "In a box with English manual" or "In a box with french manual" in the "format" option (These two are physical products and with shipping
  3. Press "Add to cart"
  4. On the checkout page Fill out the "Billing information" (Any random data will do) and press "Confirm billing address"
  5. Then un-check the "Use the same address as for billing" under shipping address
  6. Fill out the shipping address details (Also here random data is fine) When the required fields are filled out click the Checkmark at the top of the form
  7. The page reloads and the "shipping address" is applied as a second billing address (as if one had pressed the "new" button instead).
  8. The form will also have tried to submit itself as an' order, but will throw an' error because we haven't checked the "Terms and conditions" (DO NOT DO THIS IN THESE STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE ISSUE)

Hi,

I've done the test you're talking about on your website but I'm not reproducing the issue.
After the step 6, I get this:
take.ms/khm6Y
There is no error message regarding the Terms and conditions as you can see.
But the Terms and Conditions has not been checked: take.ms/yny0t
And as you can see the billing address still has the test_hikashop address selected while the shipping address has the new test_hikashop2 address selected.

So it looks like it is working exactly how it is supposed to work.

Hi Nicolas,

Thanks for looking at this.

The error is happening when the "List" option is selected, which was our first choice. The current "Dropdown list" option, which is the one you found in our shop, seems to be working as intended.

We can revert it temporarily to "List" so you can have a look at the error we get. If we set it back to "List" today between 1pm and 4 pm, would that be enough for you to check it, or would you prefer a different time?

Hi,

It will be difficult to plan such kind of schedule ; at this moment the best will be to have a temporally access to your admin so we can switch the address selector just during few seconds, enough to make a little test and see what is going on in the browser logs.

Hi!

We have changed the address view back to "List" so that you can reproduce the problem (We won't change it back before hearing from you).

After doing some further testing we have also found out that the problem happens in Internet explorer 11 and on a Ipad's safari, no matter what option we select in the backend

Hi,

We're actually working on a whole new checkout system which will work quite differently from what we have at the moment. That will prevent such kind of issues and have the other added benefits to make the checkout more flexible, with a better user interface and faster.
Unfortunately, that's a huge work and will require several months before we can have it ready.

Exciting news, we're looking forward to it!
Hikashop is superior to most alternatives out there on many levels, but the checkout part is dragging it down a bit. I hope we will get a "real" guest checkout where guest customer data is not handled like registered users data. This is where things start to get messy in our experience.
