Cannot delete product from shopping cart

-- HikaShop version -- : 2.6.0
-- Joomla version -- : 3.4.5

When not logged in (front-end), it is not possible to remove product from shopping cart after adding it. When I hit the "X"-button next to the product, I get the message "You need to log in" and the product is still there. When logged in everything seems to work properly.

The same "you need to log in"-message appear when clicking the "Checkout"-button in when not logged in. I used to get to a page where you had all the checkout-flow in one page, but now I only get the "Log in" box at the top of the page. When you log in, it seems to work, but I don't think these two issues is very user-friendly. I cannot find any settings to change these strange behaviours...? Any help?

Hi,

From what I can see, the problem is with the "access" settings of your menu items that you can configure via the Joomla menu manager.
Make sure that they are accessible to "public" and that should help.

Good suggestion! I changed access setting for the Checkout-menu item from "Registered" to "Public". This solved problem number two, but I could not yet delete a product from the cart. I then did the same thing to the User control panel menu item, and then I could delete products from the cart without being logged in. But I don't think it's useful to have the "edit user profile" menu item visible when not logged in, this is strictly only relevant after you have registered and are logged into the web site, don't you think?

Meanwhile an additional problems appeared as well which I also suspect to be related to the last update: When adding products to the basket the pop up window is not correct (se picture, the X and the scroll down)

Hi,

1. This just means that the SEF system of Joomla go through that menu item when you delete a product from the cart. Delete that menu item, and recreate it. Hopefully the system will then go through another menu item so that you'll then be able to set its access to registered.

2. This comes from the CSS of your template. It's not linked to the update. You'll want to add extra CSS code in order to hide that X if you don't want to see it.

I was sure that the problem with not being able to delete product from the cart when not logged in was gone, but now it is back and I can't figure out what to do. I have checked that all Hikashop and register-related menu items are public. I have deleted and re-added several (inluding the "User control panel" menu item, which I thought did the trick...), but the problem is still there. When clicking the check out-button I get to the check out page. Here I can delete product from the cart (even when not logged in) both in the main page AND in the cart-module which I have on the right side of all pages on my site...

Hi,

From what I can see, it's still the same problem.
You have the menu item with the alias "se-dine-ordrer" (which is under the menu item nettbutikk) and that menu item is not public, but that's the one used for the delete operation.

Sorry, but still the problem. Setting it public seemed to solve it, but since I wouldn't have that menu item visible for all, I deleted the item and recreated it in an hidden menu. Then it didn't work, and now I can't get it to work whatever I do! I tried of course to recreate it in the same menu and set it to public, but now I can't delete the products... Ahhhrg, what do I do wrong...?

Hi,

The system picks automatically the first menu item it can find which is from HikaShop when you use the delete button.
So if you delete it and recreate it, it's highly probable that the system will find another menu item, that was created before.
Right now it's the menu item affiliate-referanseprogram that is used.
So it's still the same problem.
Set that menu item to public and it will work.
If you delete it and recreate it, it will use yet another menu item.

If you look at the networks tab of the developer tool of your browser when clicking on the delete button, you'll see the URL used which contains the menu item alias used:

Sorry to reopen an old post but I have a similar problem just the other way around.
When I add items to the cart without being loged in I can delete items as I wish. Both from the cart module and from the checkout cart. But, when I reach the checkout page and log in I can't remove or change amounts any longer. I did test the same scenario when I'm already loged into the system with and empty cart. I've added items to the cart and was able to remove them as I wish both from the cart module and from the checkout page. I'm ussing Hikashop essential version 2.4.0. I know, it's a little old but I've made allot of core modifications so it's a problem to update it now.

SOLVED!!!!!
Updating to a later version solved it. Version 3 completely broke my website but 2.6.3 was o.k..
Is there a way to download 2.6.4?

Hi,

We definitely added a patch for that such then, but the problem is finding it.
Here are all the patches I could find about the cart and the delete link on our SVN:

As you can see, the only one which could be linked to what you're saying is the last one dated from the 31/07/2014, which is older than the 2.4.0 release you're on, so it can't be that.

I would highly recommend updating. I hope you can understand that we can't provide patches for releases this old.
