Positioning of asterisk for required fields

Hi,

this was raised a long time ago by someone else and I am struggling to understand why nothing has changed.

There are many many forms online and all of them use the asterisk for required fields. That asterisk is invariably places inside the label tags after the label text so that it appears as such:

Name*
Email*
Phone*

So, what I don't understand is why the asterisk is placed not within the label tags but at the end of the input tags so that the asterisk doesn't appear anywhere near the label?

Here is a screenshot of our demo website's registration form on the checkout where you can see the custom address fields:

As you can see, the asterisk is placed after the label, so I'm not sure what you're talking about ?

Hi,

Nicolas if you check address where you create new address during new checkout you will see that "<span class="hikashop_field_required">*</span>" is added after input and not after label. I think this is what topic author is asking about. I have attched screenshot.

Hi,

Thank you for pointing that out. That's something we forgot to change there.
It's actually pretty easy to change from one display to the other for the required star with the new system.
I've made the corrections for that and updated the install package on our end with the changes.
The modifications should appear in a few hours on our demo website too.

Hi,

That's the case by default. If you don't have the asterix after the label, then it probably means that you have the "checkout legacy" setting activated in the HikaShop configuration and thus you're using the old checkout system of HikaShop where the asterix was displayed after the input and not after the label.

No, all "Legacy Settings" are disabled.
Asterixs are still displayed after input and not after label.

Hello,

Would it be possible to know where exactly the asterisks are not in the label ?
The checkout is composed of a lot of blocks (views) and if you're talking about the registration, the address or the fields ; that's not in the same place that we need to take a look.
If you can provide screenshot, it can also help !

I use the Hikashop Registration Form.
In this form the asteriks follow the input field. I would like them after the label. Now the rows are unnessesary high.
I hope the screenshot will help.

Hi,

That's why.
This subject was about the display of the asterisk on the checkout.
On the registration page, it still uses the old views of HikaShop 2 and thus the asterisk are still placed after the inputs.
Changing that would require modifying the code of the files of the view "user" via the menu Display>Views.
I'm sorry but I don't have an easy solution for that for now.
We have on our todo list to do the changes on that view too in a future release so if you can wait, it will be handled in a future update of HikaShop.
