problem after quanity input refresh

hi,

After setting the quantity input to a value higher than available stock value of a product and clicking refresh button, that product is removed from cart and checkout page and shipping methods also disappear. Is there a way to display a warning to the user regarding the requested quantity limit and set the quantity input to the available stock or at least reset it to the initial value (1 for example) instead of removing it from cart?
