Hello,

I would not like any emails stored on my website so I have removed the login field from the checkout workflow. Unfortunately, this also removes the recaptcha module. Is there a way of having the recaptcha module without using the login field.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks,
J.

Hello,

I'm afraid that the "login" block is some kind of mandatory block if you want to have an e-commerce store.
You can use the guest checkout if you don't want to use Joomla account ; but if you want to have addresses, shipping etc ; you must have that "login" block.

Hi,

The ecommerce site is selling digital products so there is no need for addresses or shipping. The client plans on emailing the products to their paypal email.

I ran a checkout and transaction test with the login block removed and everything went through ok.

I was just wondering if it was possible to use the recaptcha module without using the login block. Would I have to edit one of the PHP files?

Thanks,
Josh.

Hello,

No it won't make it through.
Without "login" you do not have any email address ; so you do not send any notification and you do not let the customer perform the download for his order because it won't have any kind of account so any right to see the order details or access to the downloadable and protected files.

As I said, "login" is mandatory and "Guest checkout" is recommended.
Afterwards, if you don't want to follow our advice ; that's up to you !

Hi Jerome,

Thanks for your reply.

The client plans to manually email the digital product to customers paypal email because they don’t want any personal information stored on their website (due to recent UK data protection laws). Everything works fine without the “Login” block. I would just like the Recapcha module to still display on the checkout page.

Does this make sense? From what you’ve said this is probably not possible :c

Thanks for all your help anyways :)

Kind Regards,
J.

Hello,

It's a very particular case that you have.
And even in such case, the "guest checkout" is still what we would recommend.
You don't need to ask for the address during the guest step ; you do not need to publish all the address custom fields.
But that's a way better to have at least an email address in your store so you can send the notification and use the secure download system (which allow your customer to re-download the file if necessary).
Doing all that manually is very fastidious and it's a pity to not use the available feature provided directly by an e-commerce store.

Hi,

I completely agree with you, but this is how the client wants it. I'm in the process of trying to convince them to use emails.

Anyways, thank you for all your help :)

Thanks,
J.
