no_shipping_quotes

I have the checkout workflow on this development site the exact same as my production site however I am receiving a block on the checkout process here. Workflow is Cart/Login/Address, Shipping, Payment, Cart, Status/Fields.

On this checkout process, when proceeding to Shipping, I receive Message: no_shipping_quotes and thus can't go any further. Haven't been able to get anything from the archives for this message and have more then triple checked my settings but can't figure this out. Thanks for any advise.

Hi,

Please provide exact error messages and when possible screenshots of the settings corresponding to the issue, and, even better, precise instructions to reproduce the problem so that we can help.

Or your checkout, when I try, I get the error message: "No shipping methods available for your location" which indicates that My address is in a country or state not covered by the "zone" setting of any of your shipping methods.
But I can't say more as I don't know how your shipping methods are configured nor what address you're using for your tests, nor what exact error message you have on your end.

Here's some more info. The error message just indicates no_shipping_quotes and it occurs as sson as you select Next in the checkout process. Looks like you registered an account so if you would, just go to silverconnection.cloudaccess.host/index....uct/6178-anklet-9996 and you can just directly add my test item. It appears that all my zone settings are set to 223 (usa). I am using an address in the US as my mailing address for my tests. Also attached are setting for usps ground, as an example, from the authorize.net payment option. Please let me know whenever additional information you might need.

Just an update on this Nic, if I set Force Shipping regardless of Weight to No, the problem goes away, although then of course the customer is not able to select their shipping preference.

Hello,

Your issue is probably coming from the fact that you didn't set any weight or dimensions through your product configuration page.

Also, can you tell us what do you exactly mean by "although then of course the customer is not able to select their shipping preference." ?

Thank you.

Okay that seems to have solved the error. I input a weight on the test product in the individual product Restrictions and Dimensions area. It's true that I didn't have any values in this area for any of the products but on my current production site, I don't have any values in this area either for any items and do not have this problem on that site. I wonder why it would suddenly be an issue on this new site I am developing. Could it be something that the USPS API, for example, is triggering?

Also, are we saying that I have to input this value on a thousand individual items that I already have in inventory? ;) Could there be an easy way to accomplish this?

As to what I meant by "although then of course the customer is not able to select their shipping preference", if I set Force Shipping Regardless of Weight under Config>Checkout>Shipping & Payment, then during the checkout process, there simply is no shipping method displayed. Anyway that's not something i want to do, it was just a process of elimination on trying to troubleshot.

Anyway, thanks very much, I now know where to focus on.

Hello,

The goal of shipping method plugins different than the "manual shipping method" is to send information of your order to the shipping platform, so that they can return the correct shipping prices based on your order product weight/dimensions and shipping address.

In your case, the best solution will be to directly set the "Use product dimension" option to NO through the USPS shipping configuration page, but at least you'll have to define a weight for your products. If you have a lot of products, using mass action will probably help you.

That was the key guys. Man, been so long since I set up my other site, I completely spaced the manual shipping method, so I was making things too complicated for my needs. Went to manual shipping and all is good. Thanks for the help on this.
