Removing Country Field from Registration Form

My sales are pretty much contained to the USA so I would like to remove the Country field of the registration form. The problem I'm running into is that if I unpublish address_country in the Custom Fields, then the States field does not appear. It appears that the Zone, United States of America, must be selected to then have the States field appear.

Preferably, I would like no Country field to be displayed, but have the states field displayable for state selection.

Using the Simplified Registration option.

The state zone requires that the Country zone field be on the address fields too. What you can do is unpublish all the countries in the backend (under Zones) except the USA.

Make sure USA is the default choice for Country and voila. You have a field that is automatically defaulted to the USA (so states work) but no one can choose anything outside the USA.

Well that was easy enough, I must have been thinking way too hard on that. Thanks for the excellent suggestion.
