Checkout goes back to first page after address is added.

-- url of the page with the problem -- : funstartforkids.com.au
-- HikaShop version -- : 4.0.0
-- Joomla version -- : 3.8.13

After the guest details (email and address) are entered, the checkout goes straight back to the first page of the checkout (Cart) rather than proceeding to the shipping address page. It then either gets stuck in an infinite loop or you have to go through the whole process again.
I have attached the login configuration screenshot as well as the checkout flow. Please let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I suppose that this is linked to the shipping method changing after you enter your shipping address. Because of that, the system wants to display again the cart as something changed and thus redirects you back to the first step.
Could you provide a screenshot of the settings of your shipping methods in the menu System>Shipping methods ?

Thank you for the super fast response.
Currently we have a flat rate shipping (dependant on weight). I have only included the $9.95 up to 3kg screenshot. The others are all configured the same apart from the weight range, but let me know if you want these screenshots too.
The other option is local pick up of $0 which I have included.
We don't offer international shipping anymore and I have yet to sort out the configuration for the Australia post non flat rate option (that's another topic all together!). Those are currently unpublished and therefore not included either.

Here are the screenshots:

Ultimately the first cart checkout page doesn't need to have the shipping, it's more of a cart summary before shipping is added as i have total summary at the end of the cart process that shows shipping once it's selected. That first page just needs the discount and sub total of items ordered. I hope that makes sense.

Thank you.

Hello,

I just tested it on your end, and it worked completely fine with an Australian billing/shipping address.

I was able to complete my order, did you fixed your issue ?

Kind regards,
Mohamed Thelji.

It's still not working. It is intermittent (the worst kind of problem!) I haven't fixed anything.
Try using a Western Australian address. It seems to do it more consistently with this. Possibly because we have different shipping options for WA customers.

Marisa

Hello Marisa,

I just tested it with different addresses and even with a WA address but it worked fine and we were not able to reproduce your issue, can you give us step by step instructions to reproduce your issue or even an address that can generate an issue ? Thank you.

Kind regards,
Mohamed Thelji.

Were you able to reproduce the issue originally? (ie when Nicolas said it was probably a shipping configuration issue.)

I have worked out that it has something to do with the pick up option for Western Australian orders, as it works fine when I disable that option. And there is probably some local cache issue which only makes it happen from this end as opposed to your end.
The checkout at the start automatically calculates the shipping based on the weight of the order but if the address entered in the next step is from Western Australia, it goes back to the start because there is another shipping option of $0. But it still displays the original shipping until you go through the checkout process and actually select pick up in a later step.

I need the pick up option so can't have it permanently disabled.

Can you please check the shipping configurations to make sure I have set them up correctly?

Is it possible to have that first cart page not include the shipping at all? So the shipping cost is only shown after the shipping is selected later on in the checkout process? I really only need that first step to show what is in the cart and to add any vouchers to the order. This may also help with my other issue of the Australia Post Shipping plugin that I have yet to tackle.

Thank you.

Regards,

Marisa

I wasn't able to reproduce that issue even when using a Western Australia shipping address, can you give us a temporary access to your back-end so that we can directly test it and investigate on your issue ? Thank you.

I think it's going to be a weird one. :S
It's still doing it at this end from multiple devices and computers.

I have sent through back end access via the contact form with this thread included.
You will have to turn the pick up shipping option on in the configuration as it is currently off.

If a solution can't be found, is it possible to have a cart workflow configuration option that just shows a cart summary without the shipping costs that can be used in the first checkout step?

I hope you can find the issue.
Thank you.

Hello Marisa,

I just tested it with both the "Pick Up" and "Australia Post v2" shipping methods and it worked fine, can you test it after cleaning your browser cache/session to see if you're still having your issue ?
If that's the case we'll need step by step instructions to reproduce it.

If a solution can't be found, is it possible to have a cart workflow configuration option that just shows a cart summary without the shipping costs that can be used in the first checkout step?

The solution will either be to directly edit the code of the "Show_block_cart" file of the "Checkout" view of your front-end template via "Hikashop->Display->Views" or to set the "Display price" option to NO through the "cart" step via "Hikashop->System->Configuration->Checkout".

Kind regards,
Mohamed Thelji.
