I want to disallow users to register through Joomla way (Allow User Registration set to NO). But when I do that, hikashop users cannot register anymore. Is there a solution for that?

Hi,

Instead of activating that option, what you can do is enable and configure the Redirect Joomla registration to HikaShop plugin via the Joomla plugins manager.
That way, you'll use HikaShop's registration form instead of Joomla's.

You mean redirect the URL /login to the hikashop URL? And wich URL is that?

The reason we want to disable the Joomla registration is that we get a lot of spam users (hack attempts). Redirect the Joomla registration URL would not solve this, correct?

Hi,

It indeed won't solve your problem.
But then, there is no separate hikashop registration.
HikaShop's registration and Joomla's do the same. They create a joomla user account.
You can't have one and not the other as both are the same. The only difference is that it's a different form, with the address fields for HikaShop. HikaShop even creates the user account by going through the Joomla user creation code.

I'm afraid that the only solution is to add some anti spam protection.
You have our Recaptcha plugin which can help.
Besides that, you have many other solutions, which aren't based on a captcha:
extensions.joomla.org/tags/spam-protection/
Many of them should work with both HikaShop and Joomla.

Hi,

Sorry for jumping in, but when reading the original post up here, it seems pretty simple to me:
1. Leave it at disallowing Joomla user registration. Hence, no need for the HikaShop registration, or the related redirection plugin, either.
2. Set up HikaShop for "guests only". You can do so in its system configuration under "Checkout".

This way you wouldn't get new Joomla users any longer, but customers would still be able to go through checkout as guests.
