Custom order field of type File not working anymore

-- HikaShop version -- : 4.4.2
-- Joomla version -- : 3.9.27
-- PHP version -- : 7.3.26

Hi!

Our client has a shop with funeral related products.

Within one of the categories we have a custom order field of type 'file' in place.
Goal: when a website customer goes to the checkout process, they have to upload a photo file.

This has always worked perfectly. However it does not anymore.
I have tested this. When in the checkout process it seemd to the visitor nothing goes wrong. I can select an image / file and click Upload. I get no error. I can even complete the order.

But when I check the order in Hikashop, there is no attached file listed.

What can I do to fix this?

Hello,

Please in order to be able to progress on your issue can you provide these elements :
1. Relative file custom field configuration screenshot
2. A step by step to reproduce your current error to see if we are able to reproduce it on our localhost
3. On your side, can you reproduce your issue BUT with the Joomla error debug to level maximum, and provide the generated screenshot ?
Note : Global Configuration => System tab, then Debug System : "Yes"
AND Global Configuration => Server tab, then Error Reporting : "Development"

Thanks for your answer.

With error debug set to maximum I do see the same a warning within the module positions. Don't think this has something to do with the issue at hand.

Answers to your questions:

  1. Please see attachment: 1-order-custom-field-type-file.png

  2. (and 3)
    A. place item in cart > then go to checkout > in checkout step 1, choose a file to attach to the order (attachment: checkout-step-1.png
    B. Confirm the order (attachment: checkout-step-2.png)
    C. See the confirmation page (attachment: checkout-step-3-confirmation.png
    D. When I inspect the order in Hikashop, there is no file present (attachment: order-without-file.png)

Hi,

That's strange, I'm not able to reproduce the issue with a custom field configured the same way. It works fine for me with HikaShop 4.4.3 when I try to do the same thing. Now we didn't change anything regarding that between the 4.4.2 and the 4.4.3, so I don't expect updating would help.
However, I would highly recommend that you use the type "ajax file" instead of "file".
First, it works better and is nicer for the user since it also supports drag & drop of the file. It also supports more options like the recent "multiple files" which allows the customer to upload several files for the same custom field. It will probably allow you to circumvent the issue you have while improving the usability.

Hi,

Hikashop 4.4.2 was a typo, sorry about that, we are using version 4.4.3.
I changed the field type from File to Ajax File and... now it works again!
