Hi there,

Is there a way to save the items that the customer added to the cart even after they leave the site?

So say they add something in their cart if they return a couple days later it's still there.

Thanks!

Hello,

We are sorry for this return but normally this should already be the case, if your customer leaves his basket, then comes back (by login) normally he will find his cart, either in a cart module or in his user panel.
On the backend, you can find abandoned cart, from Main HikaShop Configuration, Customers dropdown => Cart

Can you elaborate more your answer by providing these elements :
- An url link to your website
- How do you process your test (step by step process) ?

Awaiting your element to progress on your website.
Regards

Hi,

The key to this is, though, the "Cart retaining period" setting in the HikaShop configuration: www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/5...config.html#advanced

@MyWorld: make sure you do not have it set to "0", but rather to the number of days or so you want the carts to be stored.

This usually works also for guests (= visitors not logged in).

Hi there,

I do have Cart Retaining Period = 30 days
Frequency = 1 day

I realize that it saves the item for those who have logged in even if you clear the cache. For some reason I thought it could save the items even if you are not logged in... but I guess that wouldn't work as the site doesn't know that it's you.

Thanks!

Hi,

The site "knows it's you" even if you're a guest not logged in. It uses cookies for this.

Of course, this requires that the same browser is being used and cookies are enabled/allowed and not cleared in between sessions. Caching or not is irrelevant.

Hi,

It will retain the items for your cart for guests, but only if you don't clear your browser's cookies for the website and allow for them.
If the customer has an extension to forbid the cookies, or if he reject the cookies on your website (some Joomla extensions allow for that for the GDPR) then the information won't be available to HikaShop once his user session expires (you can check the lifetime of sessions in the Joomla configuration page).
