Custom fields question

I am guessing this is not possible without custom development, but I just wanted to make sure. We sell webinar registrations, and people can then buy multiple registrations at the same time. That means we need to gather attendee details for multiple people when that happens, such as their name, email address, and title. Right now, we have one custom field that asks for attendee information if it is different than the person purchasing, but it's hard to gather all that detail in one custom field text box. Do you have any suggestions on ways to set it up to gather that type of detail?

Thank you, as always!

Hi,

Well, I'm not sure what you're looking for.
I checked your website, and I think what I would do is activate the "force shipping regardless of weight" setting so that a shipping address would be asked and then, I would use translation overrides to change it to "attendee information".
By default, the billing address information would be used as "attendee information" automatically, and they could uncheck the checkbox "shipping address same as billing address" to be able to enter the same address form but for the "attendee information".
And you could even create a new custom address field and restrict it to the "shipping" type so that you could ask for the attendee email address.
And regarding the "shipping method", you can remove the "shipping" view from your checkout workflow to not have any shipping method selection on the checkout.

Thanks, Nicolas. I think that would work really well if they were just buying for one other person. But it sounds like it would break down if they were buying registrations for 5 different people, for example.

Hi,

Indeed, that wouldn't work with more.
But in that case, I would do it differently:
On the product page, I would add custom fields of the table "item" so that the customer can fill the information of the participant.
That way, each time they click on the "register now" button, they would directly add to the cart the product with the corresponding attendee information. And I would turn off the possibility to change the quantity for the products in the cart to force them to enter the custom item fields for each product in the cart.
