There does not seem to be a Guest Checkout option anywhere. At least I cannot find it. How can I setup Guest Checkout?

Hi,

Go in the HikaShop configuration page. There, under the Checkout tab, you have the "Registration" setting which you can set to "Guest".
Note that this option is only available with HikaShop Essential and HikaShop Business.
If you're using HikaShop Starter, you would have to upgrade it to be able to use this capability.
Note that upgrading is seamless for your data and settings. It's like an update.

Well, that seems to be a little like buying a car and the gas gauge isn't functional. The dealer then tells you that you need to buy the upgraded package to get things like the gas guage, the engine warning lights, the windsheild wipers, etc. None of that was explained at the time of purchase, so it now comes out a bit like a bait and switch!
We are just beginning to create our shop and it is surprises like this that make this journey very difficult and expensive when you don't have any sales to help offset the costs. We have been through 6-7 other ecommerce solutions and everyone of them had guest checkout as an option in every "starter" version we tried. There were a number of other things with each of them that led us to ultimatley reject them all and settle on Hikashop, even though it was not one of our first choices or even in the top 3!
So here we are, faced with having to pay an unexpected $60 to get what should be a very basic option for ANY shopping cart solution. And it is NOT about the money! $60 is not a huge sum. It is how this was concealed until we have spent a lot of time, and time IS money, going through all of the configuration and settins to get to the point of testing things like shipping and payments and checkoutsand find that it is nearly impossible to make those tests without a gueat checkout option! It is not really adviseable or convienent to make test orders using real accounts!
I guess we will work on other parts of the store and see if there is anything else we might encounter that we have to pay a premium for that would be commonly part of ANY other solutions.
Maaybe then we can justify paying for "guest checkout".

Hi,

What do you mean by "None of that was explained at the time of purchase" ? HikaShop Starter is completely free to use.
And our comparison page presents it as well in its "sales" section:
www.hikashop.com/extensions/compare-versions.html#sale

If you set the "Registration" setting to "simplified", and don't activate the validation of new accounts in Joomla, there is not much difference between a guest checkout and the checkout you can use. New users won't have any extra field to fill on the checkout, nor any extra action to take to checkout. The only difference will be that next time they want to purchase, they'll have to login, instead of filling in the whole form again.
So I don't feel it is that much of a show stopper than you make it look like. I would recommend checking these settings if you're worried.

Where/How do I set Simplified Registration?I do not see anything called that. There isn't a Registration tab in Configuration.

Hi,

I was talking about the "Checkout" tab, where you can find the "Registration" setting:
www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/5....html#checkout_login
However, now that I'm checking this, I found that I overlooked that, contrary to what I said in my previous message, the whole "Registration" setting is not available with the Starter. I thought it was just the "guest" option which was removed. So you can't remove the password and username fields from the registration form with the Starter edition. That's my bad.
