I'm a little confused here, please help.
When you sell downloadable goods you insert a FILE for the customer to download. When you click ADD a new window appears where you insert the information NAME, MODE, FILE, LIMIT. ...it says there you have to put -1 for unlimited downloads, 0 for default or some other number for whatever reason. DEFAULT is what you specify in CONFIGURATION
So, we have a "LIMIT" feature ...BUT is it a limit for each and every order of any customer? ...is it a total limit for ALL orders of any customer?
We already have a value for every product... the "Quantity" filed... but when you sell downloadables -naturally- you have UNLIMITED PRODUCTS just because they are not physical items, in essence you sell a COPY of the product/file.
My other question is... ok, you insert a file (as a product to be sold) and you enter 0 (zero) for the download limit, you also set 5 in the configuration to limit a customer to download his copy just 5 times in (say) a 5 day period. Why do we have a column that says "Downloads" and the value is " ? / 5 "... what does the " ? " stands for?
Thanks!
PS: I think that mr.hbktechnologies is asking this question because he has downloadables WITH UNIQUE characteristics, like a license, a serial, or something... the answer would be the standard QUANTITY field and then he could limit the downloads of this unique item to ONE customer that bought the license or no-limit or limit the days he can download according to validity period of the license . ...maybe I'm wrong but... i don't know, let's hear it from the Team!
