Does anyone know of if any of the stock versions of Hikashop and/or any plugins or addons allow you to restrict digital goods to just one download?

Hi,

Did you read the documentation of the HikaShop configuration ?
There is an intesting part on the "files"
www.hikashop.com/support/support/documen...nfig.html#main_files

Download number limit : You can limit here the number of downloads of a product file. You can set 0 for unlimited download.

You will also see that you can specify the download limitation per file.
No need any plugin/addon, it is already there.

I'm a little confused here, please help.

When you sell downloadable goods you insert a FILE for the customer to download. When you click ADD a new window appears where you insert the information NAME, MODE, FILE, LIMIT. ...it says there you have to put -1 for unlimited downloads, 0 for default or some other number for whatever reason. DEFAULT is what you specify in CONFIGURATION
So, we have a "LIMIT" feature ...BUT is it a limit for each and every order of any customer? ...is it a total limit for ALL orders of any customer?
We already have a value for every product... the "Quantity" filed... but when you sell downloadables -naturally- you have UNLIMITED PRODUCTS just because they are not physical items, in essence you sell a COPY of the product/file.
My other question is... ok, you insert a file (as a product to be sold) and you enter 0 (zero) for the download limit, you also set 5 in the configuration to limit a customer to download his copy just 5 times in (say) a 5 day period. Why do we have a column that says "Downloads" and the value is " ? / 5 "... what does the " ? " stands for?

Thanks!

PS: I think that mr.hbktechnologies is asking this question because he has downloadables WITH UNIQUE characteristics, like a license, a serial, or something... the answer would be the standard QUANTITY field and then he could limit the downloads of this unique item to ONE customer that bought the license or no-limit or limit the days he can download according to validity period of the license . ...maybe I'm wrong but... i don't know, let's hear it from the Team!

Hi,

It's a limit for each and every order of any customer.
If a customer purchase a product with a quantity of 2, and the downloads are 5 per products, so he will be able to download the file 10 times.

The "?" display the number of downloads made by the customer.

So to limit the downloads to one, the option for the number of downloads must be set to 1, and he has to set the max quantity for this product to 1 too.

Please correct me if I'm not right...

The "?" displays the total number of downloads made by all customers until now?
Remember, we just sell unlimited copies of the same product, ...we want each customer to download X times in Y days, so we set the number X and Y in main-configuration and then when we insert a new product or edit an old one we set the limit to ZERO in order to respect the main-configuration-setting because if we don't set it then it defaults to "-1:unlimited" (and this is not what we want). We already set the product quantity to unlimited.

I hope there is no misunderstanding about what fields we're discussing!

...is there any mistake here in what we do?

Hi,

Sorry for the delay.

The configuration of the download should indicate the X times and the Y days.
Like Xavier said, if a customer buy two times a products in the same order, he will "receive" : 2*X download times in Y days.

The "?" will display the total number of downloads for every customers. It is a simple counter of the downloads for the files.
In the orders you will have the local counters for the customers.

For the rest and for what I read, it looks correct yes.
