multiple articles adding to a box

I have 4 items, they are boxes , there are more then 20 items people can put in a box.

for example

the cheapest box can have 8 items. it are all scenses , so different sense, 8 in the smallest, 16 in the medium , 26 in the large and 36 in the biggest.
But i want the customer to choose the sense they want ( without a price) and then add it to a box, when he reached a total of 8 items the small box is full.
The same for the medium box, but they have to put16 items in the box

etc etc

is this possible?

I'm not sure to understand your needs. :/
Are the boxes a way to ship the items ?

Because if it is, you can create many shipping methods and restrict them on the product quantity.
Having one method named "8 Box" and restrict to max 8 products, a second "16 Box" and restrict on min 9 products and max 16, etc.
