-- HikaShop version -- : 2.4.0
-- Joomla version -- : 3.4.0
-- PHP version -- : 5.5
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : not relevant
-- Error-message(debug-mod must be tuned on) -- : no error, just idiocy in the UX

I'm trying to add a custom field. The shop e.g. can make glasses with your own engraving.
OK, so I need a custom field for my customer to write the engraving.

I added the custom field... and now:
Do I need to add a category or just a product?

And then what is this: " You need to publish at least one another field of the same table first "?
What at least one another field?
But my product has many fields from the table "products" so there IS at least another one field?

The User Experience of HS is really bad.

Please help as at the moment the script looks pretty useless : /

EDIT:
I added a file to upload and it isn't shown on front end (I added YES to all the visibility options - panel, front, listing)... doesn't show up!
I can see that I can choose the "engravement" field now but in the file upload?? Why? No logic here!

Hi,

There is no need to add any category or product to your custom field, it will apply automatically to all the products by default.

The message "You need to publish at least one another field of the same table first" displays for the option "Display limited to" because you can only use that option once you have at least another field configured since when you limit the display of the field, you can only do it based on the selected value of another field. If you see that message, it means that you didn't configure another custom field for the same table.

If you have set the field to yes everywhere, it will display. I suppose that you're creating a custom field of the table "product", which is for adding data to your products in the backend, while what you want is actually to create a custom field of the table "item", which is displayed on the product page in the frontend for the user to use it.
That's the first thing we explain in the documentation regarding the custom fields:
www.hikashop.com/support/support/documen...shop-field-form.html

We welcome your comments on the user interface as we try to improve it, release after release, but there is no need to write in uppercase or insult us or the software.

OK I figured out the "You need to publish" is just the listing setting - top/bottom... this shouldn't be there as It's Joomla style listing after I close this screen...

I set Yes everywhere - nothing, no file upload. Look:
dev.alg.net.pl/sklep/product/4-kufel-szklany-z-grawerem

EDIT:
I have two fields "Product" in the Polish translation... which one is Product and which one is Item... who translates this stuff? OK I chose the other one and I have table: item.

Can't see it on the front end still.

EDIT 2:
OK It works but after I wrote default text - why?
And now I cleaned it, saved, refreshed - still the text is there.

HS has some strange caching default on?

EDIT 3:
Fortunately, it turns out it started to work.

Hi,

The Polish translation, along with most of the translations are done by other users so it is well possible that there are issues with them. You more than welcome to do the modifications you see necessary via the Languages tab of the HikaShop configuration and click on the "share" button there so that we can include your modifications in the default translation file so that others can get them.

HikaShop has no caching. If there is a caching, it comes from either Joomla, your template, another extension like jotcache or your web server.

Just submitted my change : )
Instead of the translation of the word "product"
in the fields for "Product" and "Item" twice (CONFUSING!)
I submitted a sort of "a piece of a product", which is often used in Polish commerce ("Sztuka produktu")

Hope the translating people will use this hint.

M.
