Blank Pages When Product Editing

-- url of the page with the problem -- : thewineyard.co.uk
-- HikaShop version -- : 2.6.1
-- Joomla version -- : 3.4.8
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : Firefox 44.0.2
-- Error-message(debug-mod must be tuned on) -- : No error shown. No page will load.

When I click to edit some of my products in the back end admin section, I am taken to a blank page with no content at all and no error message to debug (view source shows as empty). Other products can be edited fine, so it's not a site wide issue.

The affected products display on my website in the correct categories in the shop, but they can't be individually opened.

For example this product won't open and can't be edited in the back end:
thewineyard.co.uk/wine-cs/wine-by-countr...ak-rotie-shiraz-2013

But it appears in the listing here with photo etc:
thewineyard.co.uk/wine-cs/wine-by-country/category/38-france

Can anyone help please? Our Business support subscription runs until June 2016.

Thanks
Ben

Hi,

If you have a blank page it means that there is a fatal error.
Activate the "error reporting" setting of the Joomla configuration, and go back to the product edition page with the blank page. It should now display a fatal error message which will help us understand the situation.

Hi,

This error indicates that there is a lot of data to be loaded on the page and that the memory limit of your server is reached and thus the process is stopped in the middle.
This often happens when you have too many variants for the product.
So I would recommend to delete the product and recreate it with less variants. Above a few hundred variants, it's really too much so in that case, you probably want to use options or custom item fields instead of only characteristics for the attributes of your products.

Thanks for your help. Is there a quick way to remove the variants without having to go into each product?

Hi,

In that case, you can go in the menu System>Mass actions and create a new mass action.
You can use a filter on the column product_parent_id being different than 0 (when it's 0 it's a main product, when it's not, it's a variant and the value in that column corresponds to the product_id of the main product).
And you can use an action to delete the element.
Don't forget to increase the limitation on the number of elements to process so that it can delete everything.
