Hi!

I'm trying to add custom fields (actually just 1) through import but I haven't figured out even how to create one inside an existing product. Read the doc and didn't find the answer neither.

Some help would be very welcome.

Thank you.

Hi,

If it's only for one product, you can just edit the product and you'll see the fields in the interface so that you can fill them.
If you're talking about updating many products custom field value at once, you can go in the menu System>Mass actions and run a mass action with an action "update the values" on the column name of your custom field with the value you want in it.

Thank you. I probably didn't express myself correctly. I just do not find when editing a product where or how I can add a custom field.
I was thinking to add size for example which is a free form field (not a characteristic) but in my product page from the back-end I do have Custom Fields with "User group after purchase" already added but do not see how I can add anything else there.

And yes I want to import that field as it is already in my CSV file. I tried doing that without creating the field but the import says the field does not exist. :-(
So how do I create a new custom field (which I actually want to import together with the csv import)?
Thank you.

Hi,

Well, just create a custom field of the table "product" via the menu Display>Custom fields and you will see it in the "custom fields" area of the product edition page.
If you don't, then there is a problem with the settings of your custom field. For example, you didn't select the correct table. In that case, please provide a screenshot of the settings if you don't find what's wrong and we should be able to tell you.

Once the field is created, you can use its column name in your CSV to import it.
