-- url of the page with the problem -- : shop.bucher-sakowski.at
-- HikaShop version -- : HikaShop Essential 2.6.4 [1610101408]
-- Joomla version -- : 3.6.4
-- PHP version -- : 5.6.27-0+deb8u1
-- Browser(s) name and version -- : all up to date Browser
-- Error-message(debug-mod must be tuned on) -- : There is no error message

According to the HikaShop Website the Essential Version supports multi-language.
We set up our shop in german language. Now our customer also wants english as language. So we activated this in the shop panel.
The translations for the shop-internal strings are working fine, but when we edit the content for the products in german an english version only the german version is shown.
Due to some forum posts I also tried to install FaLang. But also with this the english translations are not shown.

Can anybody please help me with this issue.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Go in the translations listing of Falang and make sure that the translations are there for your product and that they are enabled.
And make sure that the Falang driver plugin is enabled and that you created your content language as explained here:
demo.hikashop.com/index.php/en/hikashop/...ge/with-translations
If all that is done, it should display your translations properly on the frontend.

Hi Nicolas,

thank you for your help. Of course it was my fault not to check whether the translations are published or not. I thought due to the fact that the checkbox for immediately publish translated content in hikashop was checked it also affects the FaLang translations which obviously is not the case.
Now, after activating the translations everything is shown as expected.

BTW: On the comparison page for the HikaShop versions you should state, that the translations only work with an extra Joomla-Component which also is chargeable. The stated text "full translation" implies, that this is working out of the box with HikaShop, which in fact isn't :-(

Nevertheless thanks for you help
With kind regards

Hi,

You can actually have translations without Falang by creating different products for different languages liked to different category trees for the different languages and then having different menu items linked to the different categories based ont he language and linked together so that you would switch from one menu item to the other based on the language selected.
So it's possible without Falang. It's the same principle than for Joomla articles. But it's a lot less practical than with Falang which is why we usually recommend to use Falang.
