Restrict Characteristics

Hello,
I have a base product with a series of characteristics.

The first variant is the size, 16, 24, 30 36 40, 48, 60 and 72 inches.

The second option is a colour with a price point. This option is not dependnet on the size.

Once this is chosen then the third option is wether to add an additional option to the product (in this case a ring). Each of these third characteristics has a different price depending on the size chosen in the first variant.

However, currently, if I select a size, say 16 inches, then a colour and then select the incorrect size (for example a 24 inch) then the price reverts to free.

I've removed the colour variant currently.

How can I force it so you can only select the ring size relevant to the original size and if you incorrectly select a size then you do not get the FREE option.

Thanks for the explanation.

Is it possible to then restrict these 'empty products' so they cannot be selected. So the options chosen in the first variant define the second / third / fourth variant options?
