Problem registration during second order

Hi,

During the checkout in my webshop customers may choose to register or to order as a guest. Registration is only possible during the checkout.
Several customers have had this problem:
- At first they order products as a guest
- During a next order they choose to register during the checkout. The registration procedure is finished, the customer is logged in.
- But then they can't proceed in the checkout. No error message is shown.

I guess the reason is a conflict between the Hikashop user and the Joomla user.
The customer already is a Hikashop user thanks to his previous orders as a guest.
Now he is a Joomla user too thanks to his recent registration and using the same e-mail address.
As a result the Hikashop checkout fails to proceed because this e-mail address is already used by a Hikashop customer. The system doesnot know it's the same person.

To resolve this conflict I usually edit the e-mail address of the Hikashop user, so it's different from the e-mail address in the Joomla registration.
Then the customer can log in and proceed with the checkout. During this checkout he is asked to add his address.

So my question is: how to make it possible for a customer who first ordered as a guest to register during a next checkout using the same e-mail address,

Thanks.
Udo

Hi,

I tested that but it works fine on our end. I'm thinking that it might be a bug of an old version of HikaShop and I would recommend to update to the latest version of HikaShop.

Hi,

On my local testsite I've updated to Hikashop 2.4.0. But alas the problem persists.
Still a customer who first ordered as a guest can't register during a next checkout using the same e-mail address. If the customer tries to register, he is logged in as a Joomla user, But he does not become a Hikashop user and again he is asked for identification.

What might cause this problem?

For your information: after the update I didnot change the old templates overrides

Regards,
Udo

(By the way: I was surprised that during the update the old frontend_old.css was overridden by the 2.4.0 version of this file. As a consequence all my changes were lost. )

Hi,

About "frontend_old" file, it is still a file include in the package so Joomla will replace it during the update.
The core files should not be edited and it's quite better to use overrides instead but you're right in the fact that when you try to edit the "old" file, it does not create you automatically a "custom" one like it does for the "default".
We will fix it as soon as possible.

About the registration issue would it be possible to have more details about your configuration and about the created account before and after ?
Creating a guest user does not have any impact on Joomla and creating a Joomla user will link the user to the corresponding user with the same email in HikaShop. So it would be interesting to get more details about the "status" of the account with the issue.

Hi,

Attached are screenshots of the registration configuration in Joomla and of the Login & Registration configuration in Hikashop.

The issue is not with just one account. It happens with all Hikashop users who first placed an order as a guest, and then try to place a next order and choose registration with the same email address.
Then a new Joomla user is created and the customer is logged in. But alas this Joomla user has not become a Hikashop user and once more the checkout asks for registration. The existing Hikashop guest account is not changed.

I hope this information helps.

Regards,
Udo

Hi,

I don't see why that would happen.
I've tried on my end and cannot reproduce the problem on my test website with the same settings and the latest version.
Could you provide a FTP and backend access to your website via our contact form so that we could look at the problem ?

Hi,

I've just sent the access data.

Notice: on the live website I use Hikashop 2.3.3
On my local testwebsite I've installed Hikashop 2.4.0 and the problem persists.

Hi Pedro,

Alas I did not solve it.
For some reason the Hikashop support team stopped looking at the problem.
Very strange, normally they are very helpful.

Hi,

I wanted to look at the problem 2 weeks ago but since you cancelled the user account, it's not possible for us to look at the problem anymore. Would it be possible to reactivate the account and also the FTP access if you deactivated it too so that we could look at the issue ?

Hi Udo,

I had a similar issue and I resolve it by adding payment methods to checkout (it was just one) and after I hide it with css.

Hi Nicolas,
Thanks for the message, I mistakenly thought you had forgotten the problem...
I've reactivated your account and FTP access.

Kind regards,
Udo

Pedro: Thanks for the suggestion that the configuration of the checkout might cause the problem. I already have payment methods in the checkout.

Hello and sorry for the late reply Udo,

After a lot of testing on my end, I wasn't able to reproduce your issue, so if you're still having that issue can you downlaod the last Hikashop version through our website, install it and test it again ?

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.
I've already tested Hikashop 2.5.0 on a local copy of the website on my computer. And alas, the problem persists!

Pedro suggested that the configuration of the checkout might cause the problem.

Udo

Hello,
So can you show us how did you configured your checkout workflow through some screenshots ?

Hi,
In the attachment is the configuration of the checkout.
Also I've added the Joomla users configuration.

Hopefully this gives a clue.

regards,
Udo

Hi,

Regarding your current website data ; it looks like the account creation is partially done but the link between the HikaShop user and the Joomla user is not processed.
I think that's why we can see the "test hikahop" user in Joomla and also in HikaShop (but still as a guest account, without the link with the corresponding Joomla user).

I saw that you have a system plugin for form security checks (EasyCalcCheck) ; did you performed some test with that plugin deactivated ?

Hi,

I've done a test with EasyCalcCheck disabled but the problem persists. Alas....

An annoying problem...
