Login issues

-- HikaShop version -- : HikaShop Business: 2.6.0
-- Joomla version -- : 3.4.6

I use hikashop on two different sites and have recently tried using the switcher so customers can login or be a guest if they want. What is happening is that some customers have created a login and later on forgot that they did and now when they check out as guest - they get a message saying that the email is in use and they cannot continue. I lost a few sales from customers until I went back to just "Guest". How can I make the system ignore what email is used when checking out as guest?

Hi,

You need to delete their Joomla user account in that case. Then, they'll be able to guest checkout and you can just remove the login form.

Thank you for the reply - However, I understand what is happening but that does not fix the problem.

Is there any way to make the login program ignore any other login email.

If someone comes back a year later, they do not want to mess around with a problem - they just want to order & not be chased away.

I don't see how that doesn't fix your problem.
If you remove the login form, and set the registration mode to guest and remove all the customers user accounts, your users will be able to come back all the time and just fill in their email address and shipping address and it will work directly without having to mess with usernames, passwords, etc.
From what I read in your messages, that's what you said you wanted no ?

Yes - I understand that it will fix that problem - But I wanted a system that would let customers log in & check out (using switcher system) one day and a few days later, the same person(email) tries to go through as a guest. Guest will not work if the customers has previously created a log in.

Hi,

The problem is that the email address is unique in the database. So you can only have one user entry with the same email address.
And once a user account exists for an email address, you don't want to give him access to all the data of the customer with just the email address. So the system has to block customers from guest checking with an email address that is already used for a user account. That's for the security of the data of your customers.

And removing the uniqueness of email addresses is not something you can easily do. It's important for the synchronization of Joomla user accounts and the user data in HikaShop.

So I don't see an easy way to do that properly and can't provide a solution. But nothing is impossible, and I'm sure you could find a third party developer which could hack the registration system of HikaShop in adminsitrator/com_hikashop/classes/user.php to allow for that.
