-- HikaShop version -- : 4.2.3
-- Joomla version -- : 3.9.16
-- PHP version -- : 7.2

When a new user registers, they do not receive the activation email. I've tested it with multiple email accounts and they are not appearing in spam, etc. Isusp[ect they are not being sent—where do I check?

Sometimes we get user activation email, sometimes we don't.
Sometimes we get order confirmation, sometimes we don't.

New User appears in Hikashop>Cutomers and Joomla>Users (deactivated)

Have tested the 'test' email account we're using from outside Hikashop and it works fast/perfectly.

Have checked spam/junk folders — not there.

If I manually activate the new user in Joomla>Users I can now log in to HikaShop and complete the purchase — However, the order confirmation for the customer (sent to the same 'test' email') doesn't arrive. The order confirmation to the admin does arrive.

Note: I have tried 5 different email accounts for the new customer registration.

Very very frustrating.

Hi,

To check whether the emails are sent by HikaShop or not, you need to go in the menu Customers>Email history.
There, if you see the email but you don't receive in your mail box, it means that there is an issue with your email server.
For example, it could be flagged as a spammer by some receiver email servers. You should test your emails with www.mail-tester.com/
Now one thing I can say for sure:
If you have configured your Joomla to send an activation email during the registration, HikaShop will send the email 100% of the time. If you don't receive some of the activation emails from HikaShop, then it's not a problem at the HikaShop level.

Not sure I'm seeing what you're describing. In the admin view of Hikashop, when I go to Customers I do NOT see anything that says EMAIL. In the dropdown I see what's in the attached.

When I select Customers in the dropdown I see a list of 'customers, their user names, and email addresses. Our test user appears there as well as in the Joomla Users (deactivated). When I check email spam in my local client and on the mail server, the activation email does not exist.

We have tried this with 5 or 6 different email addresses.

Last—this appears to be an intermittent problem. as I write this we just tested it again and it appears to work.

Well it's happening again — no new customer activation emails and now no customer order confirmation email.

Hi,

monosnap.com/file/f7EHP6JC6FRZu5wFNsEYi5QAmWTgJA
If you don't see the Email history menu, it means that you've deactivated the email history plugin.
So please go in the Joomla plugins manager and activate the plugin.
Then, you'll see the menu.

Nicholas—

We figured out the issues and wanted to provide you (and everyone else) an update. We had configured Joomla and Hikashop with an email address that used a domain that wasn't part of the website domain — we had done this purely for our testing purposes during development. However, that isn't a prop[er way to do things.

Once we configured both Joomla and Hikashop so that:

1) we were using an email address with the same domain as the website (configured in Joomla and Hikashop), and
2) Joomla was configured to use SMTP (Global Configurations)

All the Hikashop emails came through.

When a customer gets the email activation notification and then clicks on the activation link, it opens a new browser window. Is there a place to change this setting to _self instead of _blank?

Hi,

No. This is controlled by your email client not the email itself nor HikaShop. You can't change that in HikaShop.
Maybe your email client can have an option to control that (not likely), but that won't affect other users of your website.
