Common stock for different products? (Akeeba Subs)

We are integrating Akeeba Subscriptions, so evey subscription has to be a separate product. We have a maximum of subscriptions that can be sold monthly, independent of the type. Hikashop has stock control only on the product level, not on the category level.

Does anyone have experience with how the stock is updated with each transaction?
Alternatively, is there any way to connect Hika product characteristics to separate Akeeba Subscription types?

Thank you for your help!

Hi,

Your second proposition is the way to go I think.
Using characteristics, you can have separate variants of a product, and attach each variant of the product to a different subscription, while keeping the stock global to the product.

To do that, enter the stock of all the variants in the quantity field of the product and then, after you add the characteristic to the product, you can select the subscription for each variant via the "manage variants" button.

Amazing!

We still need to show the subscription levels as separate products. Is there any way to set the default selected variant with the link address, and then hide the dropdown? I see some " jQuery(select#hikashop_product_characteristic ... " - but is there anything I could just include in the address (such as ?value=x) ?

Thank you!

If you look at the link of the product page, you will see the id of the product in it. If you replace it by the id of a variant, that variant will be selected by default on the page. Then, simply add a line of CSS to hide the characteristics area on the product page.
