Traceability individual products

Hi,

I am not quite sure where to start with this, nor where to post it.

I am needing to incorporate item traceability to an online shop. What this entails is that each item has a unique code - even for same items. For example, if it was phones then I might have a stock of 50 iphone4s. I would require a unique number for each of those 50 phones that would be associated with an eventual purchase (ie with a client).

So its inventory management in a sense but fairly specific.

I would be most grateful for any ideas, comments or thoughts in order to acheive this based on a Hikashop installation.

Hi,

At this moment I will recommend you to use HikaSerial.
www.hikashop.com/extensions/hikaserial.html

Using this add-on component, you can generate (or attach) a serial for each sold product.
The serials are by default displayed in the emails and order but it is possible to not display them (using view overrides).
You can create packs for your products, populate the database with your unique serial and let HikaSerial manage the product stock depending the serials in the pack.
