Hello

I've tried to set up a discount coupon a number of ways and none seem to work properly. The coupons get accepted but the discount doesn't come off when you click the add button. :(

Hi,

A discount is not a coupon, it's a discount :)
So you can't use it as a coupon in the checkout.

Thank you for your response. Is it possible to create a coupon that someone can use for a discount. i.e. i give them the number and they use it to buy goods at a discount?

Hi,

i give them the number and they use it to buy goods at a discount

I didn't really understood what you really want to do, can you give me some example ?
Do you want your customer to buy a product with a coupon ? if that's the case you'll just have to set the Flat amount option of your coupon to the price of your product and the "Product" restriction to your product.

I experience the same problem as jamesdonlan. Let me explain what I / he means.

When going to the Cart guests can enter a COUPON CODE to receive a certain amount of discount (flat amount of money or a percentage). When entering the COUPON CODE (e.g. FRIDAYSALE10 for a 10 euro deduction) the Cart should reduce the total amount of money with 10 euro. Instead of doing that, the coupon field just gets empty and the 10 euro isn't deducted from the Cart total. Also the backend field "Number of times used" remains 0 (zero). Here are my values:

Code: COUPON10
Type: Coupons
Flat amount: 10.00000 (Euro)
Percentage 0.00
Product tax category: Standard VAT
Number of times used: 0
Published: Yes
Start date: 2014-02-01 08:00
End date:
Minimum order value: 0.00000
Minimum number of products: 0
Quota: 0
Quota per user: 1
Product: 0
Category: 0
Including sub categories
Zone: 150 Netherlands
Auto load in cart if possible: No
Coupon percentage applies to product only: No
Coupon handling of discounted products: Ignore discounted products
Force affiliation to: No partner
Acces level: All

There are no other couponsactive.

I have:
- Joomla 3.2.2
- HikaShop 2.2.3

Thanks, Richard

Hi Richard,

Code: COUPON10
Type: Coupons
Flat amount: 10.00000 (Euro)
Percentage 0.00
Product tax category: Standard VAT
Number of times used: 0
Published: Yes
Start date: 2014-02-01 08:00
End date:
Minimum order value: 0.00000
Minimum number of products: 0
Quota: 0
Quota per user: 1
Product: 0
Category: 0
Including sub categories
Zone: 150 Netherlands
Auto load in cart if possible: No
Coupon percentage applies to product only: No
Coupon handling of discounted products: Ignore discounted products
Force affiliation to: No partner
Acces level: All

You should check that :
- You didn't already used your coupon one time with your account
- Your billing address is in the zone "Netherlands"

Also, can you download the last Hikashop version through our website (2.3.0), install it and test it again ?
Thanks :).

This implies that shoppers have to be logged in to use a coupon code.
My first checkout page (step 1) in the checkout workflow looks like this:
- Cart overview
- Coupon
- Login / Register
- Address
- Go to step 2

I changed the Zome to "empty" and I updated the quota to 10, but in the backend the quota keep at: "10 (10 left)". What's the best place in the checkout workflow to insert Coupon? Does the shopper have to be logged in?

Ps. HikaShop says "You have the latest stable version of HikaShop Business: 2.2.3"

Today I updated tot Hikashop 2.3.0 and it looks like this solves the coupon issue...
Didn´t test it extensively yet but I hope I don´t encounter other problems... ;)

Force affiliation to

I want it clarified what that means, exactly. I have two ideas.

Does it mean that only that user can use that coupon/discount

OR

Does it mean that if that Coupon/Discount is used that "partner" gets the commission form it? (if not can this be done)

Thank you so much!

Hi,

It means that the partner selected there gets the commission automatically for the sales where that coupon is used.

That is awesome! Exactly what I wanted. Still wish you guys had two tier affiliation. Is that planned anytime soon or could be coded in?

It's not planned anytime soon as it would require redeveloping the whole affiliation system. It could always be coded in by a third party developer, but it won't be a small task.

Could you clarify further the "Force affiliation to" setting

Does it just apply to sales when that specific coupon is used, or does the partner become permanently attached to that customer (as if introduced via an affiliate link), and if a partner is already connected to that customer is this over ridden, and if so is that permanent or just for the coupon?

I hope my question makes sense, but this setting isn't documented.

Thanks,

Ian

Hi,

It apply only to the sales when that coupon is used.
And yes, if a partner is already connected to that customer, the partner is overridden by the partner in the coupon.
And next slaes without the coupon will be for the partner of the user, not the one of the coupon.

Hi Nicolas,

Thanks for the clarification.

We were hoping to use the coupons for off-line affiliate marketing, so if a partner was given a coupon code they could give it out on printed material or at demonstrations and new customers using it would be connected to them permanently. So "force affiliation to" would become "assign affiliation to" which assigns new customers to the affiliate.

Is that possible at all?

Ian

Hi,

It is possible to extend the features of the coupons using plugins.
HikaMarket for example is adding settings (to specify if the coupon will have effect on vendors).
So you can using a custom plugin add a checkbox in order to make the difference between "force affiliation" and "set affiliation".
Afterwards, in the triggers "onAfterOrderCreate" and "onAfterOrderUpdate" you can see when an order is confirmed and modify the user affiliation if the order was using a coupon code with the setting activated.

www.hikashop.com/support/support/documen...r-documentation.html

Now, your suggestion is interesting and I've created a feature request for that ; but I can't give you any schedule of integration for the moment ; we have some big developments in progress for HikaShop 2.6 (and HikaShop 3).

Hi Jerome,

Thank you for the reply.

It would be great if this could be incorporated, I'll look into the possibility of a plugin in the meantime.

We can't actually think of a scenario in which you'd want the "force affiliation" feature that you have currently but I guess someone must have asked for it at some point!
