User Points, Coupons and PayPal

-- Joomla version -- : 2.5.19
-- PHP version -- : 5.3.29

I would like to use the user points and the coupon feature at the same time. The scenario I have is that I would like to apply any points the user has towards a user's purchase and then apply a coupon (% discount) on the remaining balance.

The simple configuration I have works properly until the user presses the button to go to PayPal. The cost submitted to PayPal is the cost without the points deduction and not the cost that was presented to the user in the purchase summary. Can this be remedied?

Hi,

Turn off the "send order details" option of the PayPal payment method and it will take the points deduction into account.

We have been looking at this again and there is one scenario that we have not been able to get to work properly:

- user orders item(s)
- system determines automatic coupon to use
- user uses partial points as part of payment
- user pays remaining amount through PayPal.

In this scenario the automatic discount is is not applied but is replaced with the order specific coupon to address the points. Can it be made to include the automatic discount?

Hi,

Can you please provide the configuration of your paypal and your "user point" plugin ?
You have to be sure like explained in the previous message that you do not have the option "send order details" activated.

I have attached screenshots of the configuration for both plugins. The configuration works correctly for discounts but not for automatic coupons.

Hi,

It seems to me that your new issue is not related to PayPal and that by "automatic discount", you're actually talking about a coupon with the "Auto load in cart if possible" setting turned on. And since HikaShop doesn't handle multiple coupons, when you use the points and that it generates the coupon for the points, the auto loaded coupon is removed from the cart because of that.

I see two potential solutions to that:
1. AWO Coupon is supposed to handle multiple coupons and supports HikaShop. I don't know if that will work fine with the points coupon, but I think it will (you can ask the AWO Coupon developer before trying if you want to make sure).
2. Configuring the HikaShop user points plugin via the Joomla plugins manager and then adding the "user points" view to your "checkout workflow" will allow you to have a separate interface on your checkout to use points or not and they will be added to the order as additional rows, not as a coupon. That way, you'll still be able to keep the auto loaded coupon in the cart.
