Hi,

Is it possible to log the IP address (and block) of a spammer who uses the contact form to spam me?

I do have reCAPTACHA turned on.

Spammers usually use different IP addresses to circumvent these so it should not be effective. IP addresses are logged in the web server and can be blocked with a firewall software like iptable if you have control on your server.

However, I would rather recommend using something like that:
extensions.joomla.org/extension/ospam-a-not/
From the feedback we got by other users, it seems quite effective.
