FedEx shipping

Hi,

FedEx shipping rates do not match FedEx shipping tables.
FedEx said that there must be an option to choose shipping for commercial instead of residential.
Is there anything like that available in Hika?

Also, is there any way Hika can send product dimensions to FedEx? Currently it looks like it is only sending the weight, but not the dimensions.
Thanks!

Hi,

For dimensions, you have to configure the dimensions of your products in HikaShop and then, activate the option in the fedex plugin.
www.hikashop.com/en/support/documentatio...ping-fedex-form.html

The "ResidentialAddressIndicator" market is set if the address type is "res" or with the address type "auto" when the address company is not filled.

Thank you!

I have the product dimensions configured, I just enabled Box Dimensions field in FedEx plugin, hopefully this is it.

For the residential or commercial address, do you mean that when a user fills in the Company field in the address, then it is considered Commercial, and if not it is considered residential? Or do you mean the Hika Main configuration address types, which for now I have Company without tax?

Also, the link you provided above goes to 404 error page.
Many Thanks!

Hi,

For the residential, I mean the fedex configuration plugin.
There are some options like "address type" and "company" in the plugin and these values are used by the algorithm to send or not the "ResidentialAddressIndicator" marker to fedex.

About the link, I test it and it is working good.
It is the documentation page of the fedex plugin. You can read it by click on the "help" button when editing the fedex configuration.
Otherwise you can open our "integrated documentation" (Support > Documentation > Integrated documentation) and search for the fedex plugin in the list.

Hi Jerome,

Are talking about FedEx here or UPS.
I see no field for residential or commercial type address in my FedEx plugin that came with Hikashop extension (see attached image).
Also when I go to documentation/integrated documentation, I cannot find anything about FedEx plugin only UPS.
Also shipping option: FedEx Ground is not working for some reason, only Fedex Ground (home delivery) is. Is this a plugin bug?

Please help!

Hi,

Right. The parameter is set by default to "auto". So by setting something for the option "company" will send to marker to Fedex.
We (the hikashop team) did not create this fedex plugin, but Rich S Wyatt did.
He gave us the plugin and we just maintain it ( github.com/obsidev/hikashop-fedex ).
We do not have the fedex documentation or account for tests. So it is a little bit complicated for us to understand or improve the plugin.

Does that mean that I cannot really do anything with the plugin and I would need to contact the developer?
Thank you for looking into that.

Hi,

Thanks to the github, I gave a free access to the source code of the plugin so everyone is free to participate and submit/propose some modifications.
Because we don't have any specific test account or more documentation/knowledge on how Fedex works, it is quite complicated to modify it. If you know exactly what the plugin should send, what is the specific option, it could help us.

I can read the source code of the plugin and tell you that, if the "company" is field in the customer order, a specific xml tag is not added (the "ResidentialAddressIndicator" one).
(After checking once again the source code, it is the field "company" in the order, not in the plugin. Sorry for my previous mistake about this point)

After that, the plugin call Fedex webservices to get the rate prices, so if the rates are not the same that your rate table, I guess that there is something missing in the configuration (or in the plugin) to get your specific rates.
Do you have something special in your account for your rates ?

Oh ok, thank you!

No, nothing special. I have it set to public rates.
Somehow it looks like it's no transferring over the dimensions of a product to FedEx, at least that's what FedEx said that they only receive a product weight, which is strange because we have the volume for each product. So it's about box size dimensions that is not right or displaying rates that are too high in comparison to FedEx rates.

BTW I read somewhere to enable Manual Shipping Option plugin and I did, but the plugin is empty, has no fields at all. Not sure why.

Also I was wondering about the Postcode, I have that set to the zip code of the store. Since there is no real documentation for the plugin, I am basically doing trial and error to see what works and what does not.

Ok, I got the manual shipping method to show in the admin console. Is that at all needed for the FedEx plugin to work correctly?
And why is the volume set to in3? I thought these were dimensions such as: height, width, length?
Any further help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Nevermind the volume, but if you can answer the other questions I had regarding the manual shipping plugin etc., that would be great, thank you.

Could you do a screenshot of the fedex plugin options (hide your credentials from the screenshot) so that we can see what you did ?

The post code of the plugin should indeed be your store post code.

The manual shipping plugin is not needed to have the fedex plugin working. With the manual plugin, you need to click on the "new" button to create new manual shipping methods. By default none are created which is why you have a blank listing.

Make sure that you sent the dimensions and weight for the products that you're using for your tests, otherwise, you won't get the rates from Fedex. Also, make sure that you have a recent version of HikaShop as we fixed several bugs which could potentially prevent the rates from being retrieved. For example, there was a bug whereby if you had characteristics for a product, the weight and dimensions had to be entered for each variant and not just the main product, but that has already been fixed.

Ok, please see attached is a screenshot of the FedEx plugin configuration. Again this is the site: 50.97.105.145/~mandecki/index.php/products

For the main configuration units I have:
weight: lb
dimensions: in

For products (the weights and dimensions vary) for example:

1) p-chip mouse injector (100 units) has weight: 3.5 lb and dimensions: 24 X 12 X 12 in
2) p-chip mouse injector (1000 units) has weight: 26.5 lb and dimensions: 18 X 18 X 18 in

How do I make sure I sent the weights and dimensions for the products I am using? I thought that this was automatically done through the plugin and sent to FedEx.
I also have the most recent version of Hika, which is 2.1.3
I don't have characteristics for the products, just the weight and dimensions, please see attached screenshot of a product page configuration.
Thanks you!

Hi,

I see several potential issues here:

1. You restricted the plugin to the USA which means that if you're address of the customer is outside the USA, it won't see the rates.

2. You checked the "use box dimensions" checkbox which means that the plugin will use the dimensions that you specified in the "box dimensions" fields. As you didn't specify anything there, it won't work properly. Please uncheck that checkbox.

3. You selected only some shipping services and based on the products/address of the customer, some services might not be available and thus not display on the checkout.

The rest sounds good to me.
